Chapter 18

"So, what's gonna happen? where's your head at right now with everything?" Mako asked the CFO who wanted to ignore his question. 

She had to officially talk to him about what she wanted, or what her thoughts are. She told Korra she would talk to him, even though she hasn't told Korra anything about what she wanted, but after all, Mako should know, he's the 'boyfriend.'

"I don't know" Asami said staring at her computer. If only she could just tell him.

"So you might be with the boss?" Zhu li asked

"I don't know" Korra shrugged

"You don't look confident"

"Well, even if she wants me, there's something holding her back and it's not just Mako, I don't know what it is but I just know there's something else" Korra said "Plus, I want something long term something that can lead towards marriage"

"And you don't think she wants that?"

"I don't think she wants that at all" Korra said only for the both of them to be interrupted by the desk phone ringing

"Speaking of the boss" Zhu li picked it up seeing that it was a green light, meaning it was directly from one of the main offices "yes Ms. Sato" she started and listened to the speaker "right away"

While Zhu Li was on the phone, Korra saw Mako leaving for the exit. He's face was unreadable, he was deep in thought, he didn't look heartbroken or pissed, but he looked in shock. 

once he was out the door, Zhu Li hung up, Korra looked at her wanting to know what was said "what is it?"

Zhu Li laughed "I have to run these files to her, she has to proofread these by tonight... you wanna take it to her??" she teased

Korra took the files in her hands and left to the woman's office. Before entering she knocked hearing the woman's voice say 'come in'. Korra walked in seeing the girl seated at her desk "Zhu Li sent me to hand you these" she showed Asami the files

"Yes, thank you" they both sounded professional, mainly Korra since she didn't know what was going on with Mako "so, Mako came to see me today"

"I know"

"I want you to know that I'm still considering us" Asami stated "I just need to figure out if we should even be together" she sighed

"Is it about our conversation this morning?" Korra asked "is that's what's stopping you from letting us happen?"

"Y-yes, that and something else between me and Mako" Asami took breath

"Asami look, I know you're not ready for marriage, I'm not asking you to marry me tomorrow" Korra said

"I know, it's just... what if I don't ever want to be married?" Asami asked

"That's fine, but I want you to commit to me at least" Korra said

"I see" Asami was understanding what Korra wanted

—3 days later—

Korra woke up in her room to the smell of Bolin's cooking.

For the past 3 days, Korra and Asami were distant, Korra wanted to make sure Asami made the right choice, so distancing herself would allow Asami to think about it.

They still seen each other, but no more sleepovers, and no intimacy.

"Korra, breakfast!" Bolin called for her

Korra got up and joined Bolin for breakfast. Bolin served her a cup of coffee. "Thanks" Korra smiled.

She enjoyed breakfast with her best friend. Bolin knowing the story, between the two girls and his brother, he waited for Korra to come home saying she finally got a girlfriend. But it's been 4 days since Asami confessed.
