No Strings Attached

Chapter 19

Asami woke up finding herself in her bed. She then felt an arm wrap around her waist. She turned around finding Mako. She sat up and stretched before getting off the bed and getting ready for work.

An alarm went off waking up the man. Mako turned it off finding Asami finished up getting ready. "Goodmorning gorgeous" he smiled

"morning" Asami said as she grabbed her bag "you should start getting ready or you'll be late" Asami said

"it's only 8 in the morning" He raised a brow "I don't go to work till 1"

"Oh" Asami managed to get out. Korra's schedule is still stuck on her head "Well, I have to get going" 

"right" Mako said and Asami was out the door

Asami found her father drinking coffee and reading a newspaper "I got a call from Zhu Li this morning"

"ok..?"

"Korra quit future industries" 

"What?"

"Yup" He said not looking away from the paper "oh and one of our investors gave us a grant of 1 million....anyway, I'll be coming back to work today"  he said 

Asami didn't know what to say "did she say why?" she asked not caring about the investor

"No, but Zhu Li got the idea that Korra will be leaving back to the military" Hiroshi said

"dad can you cover for me" Asami said leaving out the door

Hiroshi saw the girl run out, he then looked up the stairs seeing Mako standing there, he heard the conversation. Hiroshi cleared his throat and looked back to the newspaper "I love my daughter more than anything in the world, I want her to be happy, and I'm not letting you stop her from that" he said "now leave"

Asami made it to Korra's apartment, she knocked on the door hoping for Korra to answer, but it was only Bolin who looked like he just got done crying "Korra?" she asked for her

"she left, its too late" Bolin said letting Asami in "she didn't even tell me anything, all she left was that" he pointed at the table where her car keys were and a letter.

'Dear Bolin,

I'm sorry you have to read this, but I know if I were to tell you, you wouldn't have let me leave and it would've been harder for me. Don't worry about losing the apartment, I set up payment plans, all you need to worry about is groceries, if things get hard there's a box under my bed with emergency money. I'm leaving you to take care of my car, you better now scratch it. I'll be back before you know it. I love you Bo.

Take care of yourself and everyone.

"Is there anywhere she would've visit before she left?"

"I can only think of her parents grave, she's probably telling them bye" he said "But she's probably done that already"

"you don't know that" Asami left and raced over hoping to find Korra. Bolin followed her.

Bolin showed her the way. they made it to the graves finding fresh flowers already placed on Korra's Parent's stones. 

"its too late" Bolin said

Korra carried a duffle bag on her way to the bus stop. She never felt so broken.

Maybe love wasn't for her, should she take this experience as a sign. Maybe there's something for her. Maybe her person isn't actually Asami. 

At least she didn't have to stay in the city any longer. She can go away again.
