Unexpected Love

Chapter Thirty-Four: Lily

I hear knocks on the door to the hospital room. I haven't left, for I don't want anyone to see me like this.

I look out to see all of my friends: Phoebe, Nicole, Ainsley, Brynn, Rose, Arabelle, Veronica, and a few guys. They were all pressing their faces up against the window, smiling like idiots.

I motioned for them to come in, they already saw me and there is no way of stopping them from coming in anyways.

"Welcome to the room of despair, where your heart gets broken into many pieces and they keep on breaking." I announced through shutters."

They all filed in, sitting around me. I was sitting in the middle of the floor already, so they had no problem forming a perfect circle.

It was a little overwhelming to have so many people in here when I was on the verge of slamming my self on the floor and screaming until I can't breathe anymore. "Guys, why are you all here? I mean, I'm literally in the middle of crying."

All of a sudden, Brynn took the letter from my hand and read it aloud for everyone to hear. When she finished, she looked up and had more tears spill from her eyes than I've ever seen her overall. "He's.. Gone?"

I nodded my head, and fell to the ground. Xander quickly shuffled over and held me up in his arms, making sure I didn't hurt myself.

I know I'm may be dramatic right now, but honestly, I'm not holding anything back, the pain is killing me. I guess you never know how much you really love someone until they're gone.

Off instinct, all the girls started crying, for Chance played a major roll in our circle of friends. The guys were having a battle in their heads, while trying to comfort the girls.

I pressed my face into Xander's arm, "He promised.. He promised he wouldn't leave me."

He started stroking my head, running his fingers through my hair. I could tell he was trying to say something, but no words came out. Brynn dropped the note and slid over to me, "He loves you, more than you know."

I shook my head, I know how much he loves me, I just always thought it was fake.

I heard another knock on the door, it was Chance's older sister, Lily. It's weird to see her here because none of us have seen her for a couple years since she headed off to college. She started tearing up, not one sign of her being mad at all, but she was dead inside.

I slowly got up, using Xander to stand. Both him and Brynn were holding my hand as I walked over to her. "I'm so sorry." I said, she fell into my arms. "I couldn't stop him, he didn't tell me."

She started shaking her head, "He told me, I told him not to, but he said he had to do this, that he wouldn't be able to live with himself. Your happiness was what he lived for."

I fell to the ground, her grip still on me. I couldn't function, regardless of who was trying to keep me up. I lost my best friend, and my boyfriend is in surgery to take part of Chance and use it for himself.

We all sat there, not making a noise, all that was noticeable was my loud whimpers into Lily's shoulder.
