The nurse looks worried, like she doesn't want to give the news she is about to. I know what this means, her whole body posture gave it away: Brayden is far from okay.

I saw her eyes move to Kenzy who was sitting with her hands underneath her legs. I reached into my pocket, "Here, why don't you go get us some yummy treats. Mom said that her and dad will be here after they drop Cody off at his friend's house. You can go with them then."

I handed her a five dollar bill, which seemed to be like a hundred to her. She looked up at me, smiling wildly, "I'll get Brayden some of those candies he likes. I know they will make him all better."

I forced a smile, even though I started to cry, "I think he'd really love that."

I felt a hand on my shoulder as she skipped off to the vending machine, I turned to see Mr. Turner. He was holding Mrs. Turner with his other arm, he smiled at me, making me feel a little better.

We all turned towards the nurse who was standing with her hands folded in front of her. "Okay. So we got a donor, but this person asked for their information to not be released until the end of the surgery. Just in time too, it looks like without this, Brayden would be dead tomorrow."

I felt a whimper coming up my throat, but I wasn't going to let it come out. I felt as if this donor was Chance, not living up to his word. He would do it, he would do just about anything for my happiness.

"Now look, I'd advise you to go talk to him. I'm under the impression you two are dating, am I right?" The nurse said, looking down at me. I nodded, grabbing hold of Mrs. Turner's hand. She was always there for me when I couldn't talk to my mom about a situation that needed adult advisory. But now, I had no one here for comfort but her and her husband. Even if I'd like to have my friends and parents here for comfort, I couldn't have them here right now.

"Well, sweetheart," the nurse said, looking out at Kenzy who was now trudging back over with an arm full of treats, "He needs you with him. There is a slight chance that this surgery won't work, but I feel it's best if you tell him. He told me that you two have been together for almost 6 years. I really admire you for that: a young couple, such as yourselves, so in love and together through such troublesome times in your live's."

I began to cry, "I know. He really is a guy you'd like to have around. I really .. I'm sorry, can I go talk to him now?" I turned to his parents, they looked worried about him, but they looked a little more worried for me, for Brayden has already come to terms with his situation. Whereas, I have not even imagined a life without him.

They both nodded, Mrs. Turner walked over and helped Kenzy, "We'll watch the trouble maker."
