Chapter 15 ~ A Burden

Your POV

"Oi! Wake up!"

My eyes shot open and the first person I saw was Levi.

"What is it?" I yawned.

"Get ready now" he demanded. I looked at him funny but did what he said. The tone in his voice was very serious.

"Tell me what's going on" I said while packing my things.

"Dragon hunters, they almost caught me and we need to relocate" he said.

"What were you doing in the middle of the night?" I asked.

"Practicing on riding on Ai" he replied then faced his back towards me.

I looked around and saw my cloak laying on a rock. I grabbed my black cloak and gave it to Levi.

"Keep it, you need it. Plus it matches you and your dragon" I said with a small smile. Levi took it and didn't say anything else.

"Tch, I don't need this" he said but put it on anyway.

"You could say 'Thank you'?" I suggested but a Levi replied with a click of his tongue. I simply laughed back.

"You're welcome" I said and continued packing my things.

'I guess Levi isn't the one to say thank you or show his feelings through words' I thought.

We carefully and quietly sneaked out of the cave. I looked and saw that the sky was still dark and the sun was slowly rising.

The moon was out with the stars with it. Patches of clouds were on the sky, slowly moving.

I whistled my tune and Owari came with a soft thud, landing beside me while Ai suddenly appeared by Levi. I walked to Levi and pulled on his hood so that he was wearing it.

"Always leave your hood on, that way you keep your identity and there's no wanted posters in villages with a picture of you" I gave a quick explanation. Levi pulled down his hood even more so that the darkness covered his face.

"Let's go" I said and climbed on Owari. We lifted into the air, Ai and Levi followed us.

"Where are we going?" I asked.

"I don't know, I thought you had an idea" Levi replied.

Levi suddenly froze, Owari and Ai whimpered and Owari started beating his wings faster.

I felt goose bumps all over my skin. I felt like someone was watching us....

~CLANK~

Everything happened so fast, black chains suddenly came from the shadows of the forest and wrapped around Ai and Levi.

'Black chains?!' I thought.

They were quickly pulled down and engulfed by the shadows. My eyes widened.

'Dragon hunters...' I thought.

"O-Owari!" I yelled and pulled on the reins. Owari quickly jerked away, going higher into the sky, chains followed us but soon gave up as we were out of range.

Beams of fire came out of the forests and Ai roared echoed. Some of the trees caught on fire and lit the night.

"C'mon!" I yelled, Owari let out a loud roar and we plunged towards the forest.

Chains came charging at us but we nimbly and luckily dodged them. Owari spitted out his fire but we couldn't see our attackers through the thick trees.
