Chapter 17 ~ I Promise

Your POV

"It's stupid" I said.

"Tell me" he demanded.

"But it's stupid" I mumbled into my blanket.

"Just tell me before I push you off this cliff" Levi threatened. I tightened my grip on my blanket.

"Don't tell me you're afraid of heights..." Levi said.

But I didn't rejected.

"I told you it's stupid. I'm a dragon rider, I lost both of my closest friends and I'm also scared of heights" I said.

"But you were fine with your dragons" He said.

"That's because they promised they be there for me" I said and hugged my knees.

"But now..... They're gone..." I said and tears threatened to come out.

~Flash Back~

"Dad! Can we go as a family now!?" I asked and jumped around. He nodded and you cheered.

It's been a long time since we flew as a family. So I've been asking my father if we could finally fly together.

"Come on Jiyū! Come on Owari!" I yelled and ran out the door with my two dragons following me.

Father grabbed a dragon saddle and strapped it on Jiyū.

Jiyū was already a grown dragon, he was given to me after my uncle had past away. I had found Owari's egg in the forest, abandoned. With my fathers permission I took care of it and soon Owari became my dragon also.

I couldn't keep my excitement, I scrambled on Jiyū and held onto the reins.

"Remember, hold onto the reins at all time. Keep your balance and don't worry, I'm right here" Father said and pat my back.

He whistled and his dragon came along side him. His dragon was very large, he had red scales and a yellow scaly stomach.

"C'mon Jiyū! Let's show dad what we can do" I said, Jiyū roared happily and lifted in the air. Owari followed behind us.

Jiyū flew by one of the clouds. I reached out my hand, running it through. The cloud felt like soft cotton.

I turned around and saw my family on their dragons. My mother had a beautiful pure white dragon, my sister had a green dragon.

My father waved to me and smiled. A wide smile ran across my face.

This was I wanted. I wanted to be happy with my family and dragons.

Today was perfect.

~BANG~

My eyes widened in horror. Everything just slowed down. A cannon fire was shot and it came straight for my mother.

Fire and sparks flew, blood sprayed on my cheek. I watched my mothers body fell off her dragon, falling to the ground.

My body became stiff.

~BANG~BANG~

Two more cannons were shot. One took out my mothers dragon who roared in pain and stopped flying, falling to the ground like my mother.

The second cannon shot down my father and dragon all together.

"NO!!" I yelled, I reached out my hand but father was already plummeting to the ground.

"F/N!!" My sister yelled and flew her dragon in front of me.

~Whizz~

Arrows came out of no where....

My sister was blocking me from the arrows.... Her back was stabbed by multiple arrows. She turned her head towards me and smiled softly.

I slowly slipped off the saddle and fell off, I didn't even notice that I was slipping until I was falling down.

My heart sped up its beating and my head hurted. I closed my eyes, tears streamed out.

"F/N!"

I looked up and saw my sister flying to me, her hand was reached out, trying to grab me.

I reached out my hand also and we both grabbed each other. My sister pulled me closer, into a hug and we landed into the forest.

My sister fell off her dragon and coughed up blood.

"Oh god no!" I said and jumped off her dragon, running to her.

"Y-You can't leave me!" I said, she only smiled and placed her hand on my cheek.

"Live" she said, her eyes rolled back and she stopped breathing. Her dragon fell to the ground and breathed it's last breath.

"You... Can't leave me..." I said.

~Thud~

I looked beside me and saw Jiyū and Owari, giving me sorrowful eyes. They knew what I was feeling.

I stood up, hugging both of them.

"You can't leave me" I sobbed out.

~End Of Flashback~

"It took me a while to fly again" I said to Levi, explaining what happened.

I've been so traumatized that I couldn't even fly Owari and Jiyū for two weeks.

"When I went back flying... Owari and Jiyū were the only dragons I could ever ride" I said. Levi was quiet, listening everything I had told him.

"It's stupid I know. I should've gotten use to it, it happened almost a year ago" I said.

Levi sighed and wrapped his arm around me, pulling me into a hug.

"L-Levi?" I said, the heat on my cheeks were beginning to rise.

"I'm not good at comforting people so shut up" he said and stroke my hair.

"It's not your fault, the world is hell but... Live" he said

I felt the burden slowly coming off my chest. I slowly hugged wrapped my arms around Levi's torso and dug my face into his chest.

"Tch, I'll sound sappy and I'm not going to say it once..." Levi said.

I looked up at him in the eyes, curious about what he as going to say.

Levi sighed.

"I'll promise that I'll be there for you"
