Logan paced around the apartment, his phone clutched tightly in his hand. Zandee lay curled up on the couch, her sleepy eyes following his every move. The apartment felt too quiet without Lando, and the upcoming meeting with Lando's family was weighing heavily on his mind. He needed advice—someone to talk to.
He scrolled through his contacts, hovering over Oscar's name. If anyone could help, it was him. Oscar had been there since the beginning, the one who had unknowingly nudged him and Lando together. And on top of that, he'd met Lando's family multiple times.
Taking a deep breath, Logan hit the call button and waited as the line rang.
"Logan! What's up?" Oscar's cheerful voice greeted him on the other end.
"Hey, Oscar," Logan said, his voice tinged with hesitation. "I hope I'm not interrupting anything."
"Nah, I'm just relaxing. What's on your mind?"
Logan let out a nervous laugh, running a hand through his hair. "Well... Lando asked me to meet his family, and I said yes. But now I'm freaking out about it."
Oscar chuckled softly, the sound warm and reassuring. "Ah, the Norris family. Don't worry, they're great. His mum's lovely, his dad's chill, and his siblings are super friendly. You've got nothing to stress about."
"Easy for you to say," Logan muttered, flopping down onto the couch next to Zandee. "You've already met them. And besides, you're Lando's teammate. They probably see you as part of the family already."
"True, but they'll see you as part of the family too," Oscar said, his tone encouraging. "Lando talks about you all the time, Logan. He's so proud of you. Trust me, his family already likes you, even if they haven't met you yet."
Logan sighed, the knot in his stomach easing slightly. "What if I say the wrong thing? Or make a bad impression?"
"You won't," Oscar said firmly. "Just be yourself. That's the guy Lando fell for, and that's who his family will love too."
"But what if—"
"Logan," Oscar interrupted gently. "You're overthinking it. Lando wouldn't have asked you to meet his family if he didn't think you were ready. And honestly? From everything I've seen, you're more than ready. You're already a part of his life, a huge part. Meeting his family is just making it official."
Logan smiled despite himself, Oscar's words sinking in. "Thanks, Oscar. I needed to hear that."
"Anytime," Oscar said warmly. "And hey, if it helps, I can give you some pointers."
"Pointers?" Logan asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Yeah," Oscar said with a laugh. "Like how his mum always makes the best desserts, so compliment her baking. Or how his dad loves a good racing story, so throw in a tale or two about your karting days. They'll eat it up."
Logan laughed, his nerves easing a bit more. "You make it sound so easy."
"It is," Oscar said simply. "Because they're good people. And so are you."
Logan leaned back against the couch, a small smile on his face. "Thanks, Oscar. You're a lifesaver."
"Anytime," Oscar said. "And hey, don't forget to let me know how it goes. I want all the details."
"Deal," Logan said, his voice lighter now. "Thanks again."
As the call ended, Logan felt a wave of relief wash over him. Oscar's reassurance had been exactly what he needed. He glanced over at Zandee, who had stretched out lazily on the couch, and smiled.
