The moonlight filtered through the branches of the trees, casting gentle shadows across the hidden meadow where Fala and Nacht often spent their quiet moments. Tonight, however, the air was thick with tension.

"Morgen, if anyone heard what you were saying they'd call it treason!" Fala argued, her hands waving frantically.

"I understand that! But what Nacht, My Family! Is doing it's wrong, you know that!" Morgen reasoned, running a hand through his long hair, his brows frowned and his lips tilted down in worry.

Fala hugged herself, trying to find some comfort. "Of course I know that!" she exclaimed, her voice trembling. "But this is Nacht—your brother, your twin! He's the one you accuse of using forbidden magic!"

He scoffed at her words, shaking his head. "Do not stand there and tell me you have not sensed the multiple dark entities surrounding him, Fala! Even I can tell there's something off about him!"

Fala's heart tightened. She had sensed it—Over the past few months, Nacht's aura had shifted, darkening in a way that made Fala's instincts shout warnings. The darkness seemed to grow stronger as it continued to cling to him with every passing day. "Of course I sense it! Every moment we are together I sense it! Do you not think I haven't thought about what you're accusing him of right now!?"

"Then why haven't you said anything yet?!" He challenged.

"Because I didn't want to believe it, okay?!! I didn't want to believe someone like Nacht was capable of things like this!!" she cried.

Both stared at each other with tears brimming in their eyes, chest heaving for air, throats closing in pain and hearts aching in despair. Neither wanted to argue over this, the pain it was already causing them was hard enough to bear. They both knew the risks, but the reality of the situation loomed over them like a storm cloud.

One was deeply entwined in the chaos, a younger brother whose future choices would end his life. The other felt a surge of desperation, torn between fear for their found family and the blossoming feelings for her best friend's brother. "Please," Fala whispered, voice trembling, "you have to understand how dangerous this is. What we're planning to do.... I can't lose him or any of you too."

"I know" Morgen's voice trembled, and tears silently slipped from his eyes as he stared at his best friend. It was something both never thought would happen, to think someone they cared for so deeply would do something so dangerous.

This was their first-ever argument—not over something trivial like what to eat for lunch or if tea was better than coffee —but it felt like it would be their last. They'd both wish they'd had said more, but time wouldn't allow it. Winter was harsh and chaotic in a summer country, and she treated her children just as cruelly, forcing one of them to live in a place where they never truly belonged, this was her consequence.
