Whatever vacuum reigned in Jennie's head, her body continued to function as any human being, which meant that the urge to go to the toilet could not go away. The officer on duty was a man, and therefore could not accompany a member of the other sex to the restroom. And no matter how much one of the police officers grumbled, she was still obliged to respect the detainee's right to leave the prison cell.

-You're making a lodging house out of this place. The detectives have gotten a lot of nerve.- The girl grumbled in a strange accent as she fastened the handcuffs behind Jennie's back. There was no restroom in the prison cell, so they had to walk down a long corridor with two right turns.- We don't have conditions for keeping prisoners in the station, there is only one prison cell for everyone, so why keep them here? We bring them in, they process them, and they go straight to the lockup. It's a couple hours. They built the detention center on a neighboring street...

Jennie didn't even listen to the chatter, which she didn't care about, especially since she had already heard all this last night, when the same woman had already accompanied her. Silently waiting for the officer to open the door for her and remove the handcuffs, the brown-haired girl entered the room, where there was nothing but a sink and a toilet.

It wasn't that she was stalling, she just couldn't deny herself the chance to wash her face with cold water in addition to washing her hands. Given the grumpiness and impatience of the policewoman, Jennie wasn't surprised when she heard the door on the side open. One moment Kim was about to turn around and say that she was about to go out, and the next she was already flying a meter and a half away, almost hitting her head on the toilet. The girl never realized whether it was a kick or a strong push, and it didn't change the essence of the matter. Her head was buzzing mercilessly, her ears were ringing, and her whole body ached from the impact with the tiled floor.

Kim instinctively tried to rise, still in a state of total disorientation, but as soon as she was on her hands and knees, she was struck in the ribs by a powerful kick from an army boot that knocked all the air out of her lungs.

Jennie had been in so many fights in her life, taken so many blows that she couldn't count them if she wanted to. And, it seems, the more often you go through something like this, the easier it gets. But the truth is, you can't get used to the pain. Every time it hits you, it's like it's the first time. Your brain freezes from the overabundance of signals from the nerve endings, and it's replaced by instincts that make you clench into a ball and cover your head to survive. And when you get new blows, you either continue to obey your instincts or force yourself to think and fight back.

The girl could have grabbed her attacker's leg at the right moment and forced him to fall, and then fought on more or less equal terms. Or she could have done something when she was roughly pulled by her hair, forcing her to her knees. And she certainly could have pushed back with her legs, slamming her opponent into the wall behind her as he began to choke her, wrapping his arms around her so that his elbow was under her chin. She could do that. And she'd done it. Before. Not now. Not after days without food or sleep, filled with mental torment. Jennie was too weak not so much physically as mentally, so she didn't even try to fight back, just waited for the light in front of her eyes to fade.

-You have something that doesn't belong to you.- A nasty whisper sounded in her ear.- My boss wants it back. Either you tell me where you've hidden it, or I'll break every bone in your body. And every bone in the body of all your friends. I'll find everyone who's ever been seen with you. I'll find their families. And I'll break their bones too. Where's the bag?

Even now, panting from the pain and the man's grip, Jennie couldn't help but smile triumphantly in her mind. She wasn't wrong when she thought that the damn pile of drugs she stole would haunt Heechul. Oh, he turned out to be exactly the principled piece of shit she thought he was. It's a pity that she doesn't need it now.
