Heechul was in high spirits, finishing the coffee that his secretary had brought from the neighbouring coffee shop every morning for several years. Even if it was his last coffee for the next few years, it didn't upset him. After all, where he came from, prison was considered the place through which all great men passed. Yeah, and he wouldn't be himself if he thought the fight was definitively lost. Like hell they'd be able to put him behind bars that easily. As long as the case stays within the city's jurisdiction, he can handle it. Too many officials don't benefit from him being tried, because he can easily drag them down with him if he wants to. Witnesses can always be removed, and evidence can be thrown into the landfill, so that no one can prove that they were there at all. The main thing is to find out who exactly is in the group that is trying to get rid of him, how influential people are behind it. Even if the feds are involved in the investigation, you can never stop believing in the power of money. But Jennie definitely needs to be dealt with once and for all. Ideally both of them, but he liked Ella too much as the employee who carried the department. Still, the detection rate should also be kept at the level, so as not to displease the bosses and not to wait for eternal inspections. With proper training and motivation, she would make a great assistant in his cause. As long as she didn't turn against him, he sincerely hoped she would soon. But Jennie... The little rotter who'd brought confusion to a well-oiled machine. He didn't like her, and for that reason at least, she needed to die as soon as possible. He'd wanted to put a couple of thugs in her prison cell the night before, but big sis was too vigilant, and he couldn't be more obvious inside the precinct. Well, okay, once Jennie leaves the place that has become her accidental protectors, she can easily catch a stray bullet or get into a random accident. It's only a matter of a couple of days, he'll make sure every dog on the street wants her dead for a decent reward.

Throwing the empty coffee glass into the bin, the man glanced impatiently at his watch, noting that it was still more than half an hour before the prosecutor and his lawyer arrived. Together they'd figure out how to get out of this. It wasn't the kind of shit they'd been through, after all.

Frowning, the man loosened the tie around his neck and went to the window to let some cool air into the office, which had become too stuffy. But it didn't help. The letters in the document on the desk began to blur, and it became harder to breathe. A painful prick in the area of the heart was the final impetus for the man to call the secretary. She quickly fussed about, fetching water or summoning one of the chief's closest assistants. A racing heart was nothing new to Heechul, the effects of years of bad habits, but now it was especially bad timing.

-I called an ambulance. - The secretary announced, frightened out of her wits by the chief's unwell appearance. He didn't argue much, objectively assessing that his condition would normalise much faster after a shot from a specialist than from a glass of water and fresh air.

The paramedics arrived quite quickly, which was not surprising considering where the call had come from. The three girls, dressed in all the proper attire, including sterile medical masks on their faces, entered the station and immediately made their way to the first floor, accompanied by a dark-skinned detective. After learning more about the patient's condition along the way, one of the paramedics headed straight back downstairs to retrieve some sort of machine from the car. The other two quickly entered the office, accompanied by a secretary and the same detective.

Heechul, though visibly pale and sweating, was in satisfactory condition. He sat at the table, taking small sips of water from a glass, undoing another button of his shirt to breathe more easily.

-Sir, I need you to move to the floor next to the table in case you get worse.- One of the paramedics asked, the one with the blonde hair, removing her mask from her face, as this was obviously a non-infectious case.
