Meredith's POV
Before Derek I don't think i have ever experienced true raw happiness. With him my smile feels real, each laugh was natural and my insecurities seemed non existent.
With Derek I felt safe, my home was within the warmth of his arms.
It had been two weeks since the animals I cared for had been moved. I missed work, I missed being with the animals, I missed my team.
Derek had helped me sell my old house, it went for a fair price Derek made sure of that. I had spent my free time either training Loki or looking at plots of land, somewhere closer to home, where I could rebuild my business.
I had panicked at first about moving in with him but everything was amazing, I spent time alone reading sometimes or I would swim. Cristina had been here a few times for a movie and pizza.
Day by day I felt more like myself again, my confidence was growing and I finally felt safe.
Third POV
Meredith sat at the table with her laptop open with plots of land filling her screen. She smiled softly as she felt Derek's warm breath against her neck.
"What are you looking at angel"He asked as he pressed a soft kiss to her neck.
"I want to rebuild Blossom's Veterinary Surgery, from scratch and closer to home"She explained. Derek nodded and sat beside her.
He ran his eyes over her research memorising everything she had included she wanted and needed space wise.
He watched as she looked at one plot of land which was a five minute drive from their home, the price nearly double the rest, he felt her exhale before scrolling away from it.
He knew it was the one she wanted and money to him was nothing. He pulled out his own phone and walked away from her. It took him only fifteen minutes to secure the land, he instantly transferred the money and watch as the plot was removed from the website.
"My love, don't be mad"He held his hands up as Meredith's eyes found his.
"What did you do"She asked as he stalked toward her.
"I bought the plot on the field" His sentence was short, Meredith gasped as she stood.
"Derek..I...why?"She questioned.
"Because baby your happiness is all I care about, because you are my sanity. Knowing you are close to home, knowing you can expand with all of the plans you had before makes me happy. I want to be the one to make those dreams come true. Meredith I would do anything for you." He cupped her cheek as she placed a passionate kiss upon his lips.
In the weeks that followed Meredith and Derek worked together on the base plans for the new practise. New plans included stables to allow horses overnight care, updated kennels with both indoor and outdoor parts, a cattery , the theatres, a hydrotherapy centre as well as physio. Derek had extended a branch when he suggested Meredith make a bigger rescue building. On the new build the rescue section had its complete own building, with a meeting pen and office.
They had hired contractors, Meredith had her basket full of what she'd need, new uniforms would be discussed and Meredith was starting the hiring process. She needed five more members of staff. She had Jackson, April, Cristina, and Izzy but she needed someone to manage the rescue centre, three staff to work within it as well as one more member to her own team now she would be taking on more.
The estimated time on the work was around nine months to a year which Meredith didn't mind. In the meantime her previous surgery was being cleared out ready to be sold.
Derek had converted one of his outer buildings into a smaller rescue sight for the time being to allow Meredith and the others to still take part in their passion.
On his land it had previously been an old housekeeping house, in had taken only two weeks to accomplish what he needed it to be. Now the once unused building had eight kennels, a small cattery to house six rescue cats as well as a room where Meredith could examine them, she had room to train them. Derek had ensured he kept the upstairs of the building for a bathroom, small staff room and the meeting room.
The couple were settling into the new life they were leading. Meredith was passionate and didn't want to be involved in the Shepherd's dealing which sometimes became messy. She was close with Lizzy and Amelia and even Carolyn.
Chris was kind to her and Reuben and Rox were the sweetest children.
"So, how is it? Being a one woman man?"Mark asked as he sat with Derek, Owen and Chris in a meeting regarding one of their many businesses.
"Fucking amazing. I wouldn't change a thing of it. Coming home to her every night is a fucking dream."Derek sipped his coffee as Chris chuckled.
"She is an amazing addition to this family, she brings the best out in you son."Chris looked at Derek in pride.
"I did some digging, the Grey's lied when they said they would leave Meredith alone. They are plotting. Mer said she feels like she is being watched. Both David and Maxwell have been seen around the area." Derek's announcement wasn't first news for the men. Suspicions had been raised before.
"What is the plan?" Owen asked.
"Haven't got one yet, they see Meredith as of them with the Grey name she bares. I think I have an option but I don't want to scare Mer away." Chris knew what he meant.
"If she is the one, if she is who you want forever then you do it. Life it too short to waste time. If she is it for you then do it"
Derek thought silently for a few moments.
"Then its decided, I will do it, she is my everything and I won't allow them to take her from me"
