The smile on his face when he walked into the offices the next morning was one they had never seen before it was genuine and met his eyes that were filled with love.
He was at his fathers office to meet Mark so they could go over their newest business plan with Christopher. The pair intended to buy a car dealership together, with only the best cars within it, the high end pricey brands with flash logos.
His morning had been the best, he'd woken up with Meredith in his arms, they made out in the shower, she made breakfast for them both, told him how much she loved him before allowing him to get ready.
When he met Meredith Grey never did he expect he would fall in love with her, never did he think they would be where they are now. He had no regrets for how things were turning out, he was the best version of himself and he knew that.
Strolling into his fathers particular office Mark and Chris instantly picked up on Derek's mood. His eyes were full of light, full of happiness and joy.
"You okay son?"Chris asked from where he sat. Mark eyed him.
"Get laid this morning?" He joked to Derek. Derek shook his head.
"Last night I told Meredith I am falling for her, that I love her. Then she told me how she loved me, how I saved her and for once I just feel so fucking happy" Chris couldn't hide his own smile. He stood up and embraced Derek, patting his back.
"I am so happy for you son. She's the one. I can feel it. Bring her for dinner tonight since you blew it yesterday. Introduce her as your girlfriend"The pride in his voice was unmissable.
"I'll call her now"He chuckled. He already missed her voice so it worked out for him. It took only seconds for her to pick up.
"Hey handsome, are you okay?"She asked, her voice sweet.
"Hey beautiful. Everything is fine. Are you free tonight?Dinner with my family, Loki can come."He asked as he glanced at his watch.
"Of course. I am on my way to Ashmore road apparently a dog has been hit so I am checking it out" She replied. Derek frowned.
"Be careful, that is a rough area"He almost growled.
"Cristina is here babe, I wouldn't come alone" He felt himself relax.
"Alright be safe, I'll pick you up at 6, does that work? You can come back to mine after if you'd like with Loki and I will take you work tomorrow I am free until 12" He waited for her response, hoping she would say yes.
"Of course, I'll pack a bag. My first surgery is at 10 tomorrow. I gotta go babe, I love you"His heart leapt, the words rolled so naturally from her tongue.
"I love you" He ended the call. "She said yes of course"He nodded to his father.
After that he and Mark spent three hours discussing the possible plans for the dealership that Chris seemed to be in love with. He began looking for the grounds and finding what he needed instantly including construction workers, interior designers and other teams. Which he would handle as the boys contacted the brands.
Derek and Mark left together knowing they would see Chris later that evening.
"I wanna get Meredith something special Mark. What do you think a necklace?"Derek asked. Mark stopped for a moment.
"Brother, you are serious about her aren't you. Like proper?" Mark asked. Derek nodded his head.
"You know I don't even know how to describe it. I just..its like nothing I ever read about. I didn't think it would feel like this. But all I want is to protect my girl. Show her love, affection and everything that comes with it. I was never cold-hearted, just scared to commit. I never hurt a girl or treated her wrong the girls I screwed knew what it was. But Meredith when I started getting to know her I wanted more than sex, I wanted intimacy, I wanted dates, kisses and milkshakes. Mark I would do anything for that girl. I never thought I would be like this but she is it for me." He admitted openly.
