It was the friday before exam week and I was at the hospital 'to study' but I think I knew that wasn't happening the second I went to Lindseys room.
It's been a few weeks since we met now and I have been going to her room almost everyday. It must be hard living in the hospital and she has proven to be a good friend.
By now I've filled her in on Jakob, Will, school, cheer, basically everything. Everything but my mom. I figured it wasn't my place since that's her doctor.
But I've also learned things about her. How her mom left when she found out she was sick and her dad's never around since he works two full time jobs to pay for treatment.
"So how's studying going?" Lindsey inquired. "Oh girl, I haven't even started yet" I chuckled. All of a sudden alarms started blaring and all the monitors went down.
"Are you okay?" I questioned. "I'm fine" she confirmed confused. "look" she turned my attention to the screen where a cryptic message was being spelt out.
"Hello Grey-Sloan Memorial. Currently, we control your hospital we own your servers" it spelled out. "Well shit" I scoffed.
"I need to find my mom" I rambled. "Oh yeah, go ahead. I'll protect your books" she smiled. "Thank you!"
-------
Frantically walking down a dark hall texting my mom I ran into someone. "I'm so sorry- Mom!" I exclaimed. "Oh thank goodness, I was looking for you!" she hugged me.
"Can I stay with you? I don't want to lose you again. You know how bad the service is in this place" I requested. "Of course hon, April is paging me" she announced.
"What's up?" Mom asked as we entered the conference room. "We have big problems" Bailey stated the obvious.
"Right now we can't order meds, see what meds they are on or monitor patients" Richard added. "I thought we were prepared for this!" Bailey raged.
"Our social security seminar isn't until friday" The security worker confessed. "So what do we do?" Mom wondered.
-------
Mom and Alex had this kid with a clotting disorder who would be especially challenging. Both of them being busy having to monitor other patients I was left to monitor him in the mean time.
It became a problem when the young boy's vitals started to go wild. The big problem came up when nobody knew which meds he was last given.
"Who was on call last night?" Alex yelled. nobody knew. "I will find out" Jo promised exiting.
-------
"Dr Wilson has been gone too long" the nurse on call urged Mom and Alex to make a choice. "We have to go with the heparin. He could be throwing a clot" Mom insisted to which Alex agreed.
"Hang in there buddy" Alex soothed as they injected him. "Why isn't he getting better?" I wondered. "We need to give it some tike" the nurse urged.
"We've given it enough time" Mom argued. "You can't give him heparin!" Jo rushed in confirming the suspicions.
"Why the hell weren't you answering your phone!" Alex shouted. "Alex-" Jo stuttured. "What!?" he questioned. "Paul. Is. Here." her words cut through the air. Who is paul?
-------
"Change of plans jelly, can you stay with Jo for me?" he plead. "yeah, but who's paul?" I questioned. "I promise I will tell you when there's more time. Just go find Jo" he ordered.
-------
"Are you okay?" I ask Jo as we sit in the OR gallery Alex is operating in. "Honestly no" she confessed. "I mean I don't know what's going on but I'm sorry" I hugged her.
"Paul is my husband" she confessed. "But you're dating Alex" I questioned. "Which is why I couldn't marry him, Paul made my life a living hell and I just filed for divorce but he found me" she continued.
"Oh my, I had no idea" I sighed. "Jo isn't even my real name, I was so scared I changed my name. My real name is brook" she added.
"It's going to be okay, we are all here for you, you're safe" I comforted. "Thank you" she smiled. "Hey Morgan?" April called from behind us.
"Yeah?" I wondered. "Lindsey is asking for you, I will stay with Jo. Lindsey needs you" April urged. "Is that okay?" I asked Jo. "Yeah go" she insisted.
-------
"What happened?" I rushed into Lindseys room. "It hurts so bad, Morgan" she was throwing up.
"Have you had any tests done yet?" I asked. "No CT is still backed up through the whole floor" she replied. "Where's your chart?" I wondered.
I studied her chart to see who her doctor was, Dr. Sharp? No way. Only the best should be for Lindsey. "Hold on I'm going to call me Aunt, hang in there"
-------
"What's going on?" Meredith asked rushing into the room. "You're the best general surgeon here, Lindsey is my best friend. She's all alone. help her" I begged.
"Lindsey sweetheart, I heard your pains getting worse. Can I do an exam?" Mer gloved up. Lindsey nodded.
"Well at this hospital I have certain fame, we're going straight to CT" Mer insisted. The exam must have been bad.
-------
Shortly after Lindsey was taken away the hospital had been returned back to normal and the day was almost up.
"They took Lindsey into surgery" Mom told me. "What's wrong?" I questioned. "Her tumor was eating through her bowel, she should be fine. Mer has this" mom smiled.
"What about Jo?" I wondered. "Well she should be a free woman now. The divorce papers are signed" she explained. "Thank god" I exhaled.
"Well let's get you home, Mer promised to have Linds facetime when all is done. You have had enough stress for one day" mom urged. "I guess your right" I sighed.
