It's getting chilly outside which means it's the best time of the year in Seattle, Christmas! School is on hold and life feels good.
For the past couple weeks I've known I wanted to get Lindsey something, but the challenge was what to get.
Mom says I should make her something myself because it's coming from the heart, but I think she deserves better than that, so that's exactly why Aunt Lexie will be taking me shopping tonight after I go visit her.
-------
"Guess what I got on my Biology exam!" I exclaimed. "What?" Lindsey wondered. "I freaken 97! and to think I saw so worried" I grinned.
"I told you, you had nothing to worry about" she chuckled. "How was your test?" I sat down inquiring about the path report she'd been waiting on.
"Not good, I'm still waiting for somebody to come talk to me about it" she looked at the ground. "Do you want me to have them put a rush on-" I offered. "No there's no point, they can take their time" she shrugged.
-------
"This is nice!" Lexie suggested as we walked through the aisles of sephora. "It just feels like nothings enough, It's bad enough she has cancer, I can't get her a bad gift" I sighed.
"You're putting wayyyy too much pressure into this gift" she insisted. "Well I don't know what other way I'm going to tell her how much I appreciate her"
So after hours of looking all I was left with was a photo frame I planned to put a picture of us in, but I still needed more.
-------
"Morgan come here!" Mom called later that night. "Coming" I flew down the stairs. "So earlier this week when I went to buy earings for that presentation I'm giving and I saw this gorgeous necklace and I just had to buy it though I had no idea what I'd use it for" she explained.
"Are you giving it to me?" I smirked. "Not exactly I thought it kind of reminded me of Linds and I thought I would offer it to you for her" she smiled. "Oh my gosh mom! You're right! This is so Lindsey, thank you!" I hugged her, my present is saved, this would pair well with the photos and my hand written letter I was working on.
-------
Finally it was Christmas Eve, one of the biggest and the best family functions all year. We would be hosting for half the hospital. Even Auntie Addie, Uncle Jake, and Henry were flying in for the weekend.
A little past three Uncle Mark and Aunt Lexie were here with Cooper to help. By now Lexie was passed due and I knew it was twins but I still couldn't believe how big she continued to get.
"I'm only going in for an hour with Morgan and then I'll be back for dinner!" Mer insisted walking into the kitchen. Aunt Maggie knew if Mer had a way out of a function she wound take it.
"Relax, I won't let her stay too long" I assured Maggie. "See! I'll be back in an hour" Mer smiled as we were out the door.
-------
"Merry Christmas!" I ran to hug my best friend. "Oh my gosh, Morgan, you didn't have to!" she exclaimed seeing the gift in my hand. "But I did! And I made sure it was perfect!"
I watched as she carefully unwrapped the paper, her smiled growing with each layer. "Morgan!" she grinned, her eyes watering. "I love you so much Lindsey" I pulled her in.
"I'm not making you miss something am I?" she questioned seeing both Meredith and I's fancy attire. "Oh no sweetheart, we needed to escape!" Mer laughed.
-------
We returned with in the hour as promised to see the house has somehow exploded into even worse chaos. Who knew that was possible. Dinner was supposed to be done in two hours but only god knows if that would be possible.
"Lex are you sure you're fine" Mark asked his wife seeing her hold her belly. "Yes, just Braxton Hicks, I've been having them all week!" she assured him.
"I'm glad my factory is closed" Meredith laughed, making light of her sister's pain. "Not funny" Lexie pouted.
"So what do we think the chances are we're eating tonight?" I sighed sitting back. "Slim to none since someone forced Jackson into the kitchen" April shrugged.
When the doorbell rung I didn't hesitate to get it. "Addie!!" I squealed throwing myself around her. "Moe Moe!" she squeezed me back.
-------
There must have been a miracle but by an entire group effort dinner was on the table by six-fifteen.
"Great hustle guys!" Arizona smiled well into her third glass of wine. "Well we all scrubbed in today" Mark gave Jackson a pat on the back.
"I'm gonna be back" Lexie stood up but as soon as she did her water broke all over the floor. "Dude did you just pee yourself?" Alex asked. "Alex! Her water broke!" Jo scolded.
