20. Awake

    "How's he holding up?" Jo asked waking me up.  "Good" I rubbed my eyes. This has been the worst night of sleep I have ever had.

There wasn't very much space on the couch so Will had fallen asleep with his head in my lap. I'd love to tell myself that was the only reason why we were sleeping like this.

"Your mom and uncle Alex sent me to come make sure you're okay" Jo explained, "said something about school tomorrow" She laughed. Oh shit she thinks I'm going to school? No way I slept one hour max so far.

"No way!" I laughed but I was also shocked. "Yeah I don't know how negotiable she is on that one" Jo grimaced. "She's crazy!" I exclaimed.

    Will stirred in his sleep. "Morgan?" He questioned. "Hm?" I asked. "Is my dad out of surgery yet?" He wondered. "No go back to sleep" I revealed running my fingers through his hair.

    "You sure you just met him yesterday?" Jo raised an eyebrow. "Mhm" I confirmed. "Okay Moe I'll be back to check on you get some sleep" Jo left.

    "It's all done, it went well, do you wanna wake him?" My mom asked. "Yeah we should" I agreed shaking him.

    "Your dad's out of surgery, we can take you to him" I offered. "please" he took me up on it.

"The surgery seems to have went really well, he should be waking up soon, I'll leave you to stay with him" she elaborated, "Morgan come with me a second."

She practically dragged me into the hallway. "Em who is this boy?!" She questioned. "Okay so, I never really saw you yesterday after school but basically I met him there" I began.

"And? What happened? How did we get from point A to point B?" She bombarded me with even more questions.

    "Hold your horses! Let me paint the picture for you. So it was first period, and incomes this boy. He didn't even have a pencil so he stole mine, and I was really annoyed and he caused a scene and the teacher noticed and made me give him mine

I was so mad and he just continued to mess around with me. I came here and I was so pissed and actually I was talking about it with Jo and April when all of a sudden he came in.

And I just felt so bad and we got to talking and I started to think maybe it was just a bad first impression and yeah he was a jokester but he seemed pretty sweet. But yeah that's it" I concluded.

"Wow" my mom said in awe, literally her mouth was wide open, "Seems like you had an eventful first day."

"I sure did" I laughed. "I think you should go home and shower, you know what? You should take Will with you" she suggested.

"What? That seems weird!" I exclaimed. "He has nobody Moe and it seems like he could use some time away from this place, plus his dad has to go get some scans done" She empathized

"I guess" I thought about it for a minute. "I can take you both, I'm off now" she offered. "Okay, but can you tell him the plan? It makes me feel awkward" I requested. "Sure" she agreed.

"This is my room" I showed him around, "you can sit on the bed while I shower I'll be quick. "Mhm" he nodded sitting down.

The shower felt really nice after spending over twenty-four hours away from home. I brushed my teeth and washed my face before heading back into the main room.

"Woah!" Will exclaimed covering his eyes. "Relax!" I laughed, "it's just a towel!" He uncovered his eyes and returned to his game.

I went back into the bathroom to get dressed. I was doing my makeup in front of my vanity mirror when the doorbell rung.

"Morgan! Get it!" I heard my mom yell. "Ughh" I groaned standing back up. I sprinted down the stairs to get it hearing they rang the door bell yet again. "Morgan!" Mom shouted again. "Im getting it!!" I exclaimed.

"Jakob??" I questioned seeing him at the door. "You haven't answered my texts" he stated. "Cuz I blocked you" I scowled. "I figured you would" he chuckled to himself.

    "Who is that?" Jakob asked looking behind me. I turned around to see Will. "I told you to stay in my room!" I scolded. "Who is he?!" Jakob repeated now pissed.

    "I'm Will" Will laughed from behind me and I smacked him softly. "Shh" I shushed him putting my finger to his lips. "He's a friend from school, his dad's my mom's patient" I explained.

    "It only took you a week to find someone else to give you attention, huh?" He smirked. "Nope, you don't get to call me a whore, you don't get to judge anything about me! Leave my house, come back when you grow some balls!" I slammed the door.

"Who was it?" My mom questioned walking down the steps. "This loser" Will laughed. "He's my friend" I groaned. "Doesn't really seem like it now huh?" Will smirked.

"Can you not?" I rubbed my temples. "My bad princess" he joked. "Okay but seriously Em who was at the door?" My mom repeated.

"Jakob" i stated. "Seriously? He came back again?" My mom fumed. "Mom chill please, I handled it. Can we please just go to the hospital?" I asked. "Okay baby" she sighed.

Wills dad was doing a lot better than expected and my mom was really amazed by his recovery. "Well Mr Shroyer at this rate by this time next week you will be home" My mom smiled.

    "Thank you so much Dr Shepherd you all have been so good to my boy and I, thank you for everything" his dad appreciated. "Of course, we'll let you rest now" my mom took me out as well.

    "You need to go home and get some rest Morgan, your Uncle Alex offered to take you there but I already let you miss today so you need to go tomorrow" Mom ordered.

    "But Mom pleas-" I begged. "No buts Mo! You're going tomorrow it's the first week of school, also I'm still trying to find you a ride for tomorrow but it's looking like you might actually be sleeping at Alex and Jo's" she added.

    I hate having busy parents. I just want to be able to sleep at home but no my mom has to be working.

    "Where are all the other kids?" I questioned. "Zola is staying with Sofia and Arizona and them, and all the others are with your Aunt Lexie, I figured you could get more rest away from the other kids, plus Jo and Alex live way closer to your school but if you want April also offered" she exclaimed.

     "Fine! I'll just stay at Alex and Jo's place" I agreed walking away. "I love you" she yelled as i walked away. "I love you too" I groaned.

    I didn't really want to stay anywhere and especially not Jo and Alex's. I can always hear them doing it all night. Normally I would rather stay at Aprils but I didn't really wanna stay up and hear her rants tonight. And Lexies house was probably the only other option but she already has three kids alone and she was pregnant to top it all off so I didn't want to bother her.

     I wish I had a stay at home mom that I could do stuff with. I love my mom but she is always busy and rarely has time for me other than her one day a month. I'm just going to stop now i sound like a brat.
