The chokehold of claw never left you, and you felt it following your shadow, every step, every miniscule movement— it was with you, the pain and the coldness of the place making your skin crawl. Were you being dramatic? You weren't sure.
Each step felt heavy, and each breath felt suffocating—though less burdened, the feeling never leaves. The dim light from rhe streetlight, engulfing you with a light that makes your shadows darker.
You supposed you should feel relieved. That you were finally free, that you won't be in their grasps anymore, that you'd be the same as you usually did—but the heavy feeling in your chest never leaves. It was amazing how much such a feeling annoyed you.
A sense of loss yet relief swirled inside your head, your legs bringing you wherever it could.
A hand landed on your shoulder, volts being sent to your body as you turned to the figure behind you. (For a moment, you thought you saw Megumu.)
Hanazawa Teruki. The blond boy gave you a look filled with worry, and it was as if he pulled you out of water— a sigh escaped your lips, a bit shaken, but calmer than you were before.
"...Teruki?"
The boy furrowed his eyebrows, deciding to walk beside you, "Are you doing alright? You were..spaced out."
Your expression turned into disdain at the topic, before it regained its neutral composure. Your hand placed on your neck as you continued to walk, how were you supposed to answer this question?
You cleared your throat before looking to the ground, "Somehow fine. What about you?"
He shot you an incredulous look, a face that is desolate of trust but proceeding to nod at your words anyways, sparing you the tough questions temporarily as he smiles.
"I'm doing alright. I'm glad that Kageyama's master was there. I was saved—and the same goes for Ritsu."
A chuckle escapes his lips.
Silence filled the road again.
....was the road home ever this long before, or was it because of how awkward it is? You'll never know. Hopefully the loop incident doesn't happen again. (You bite your bottom lip, the monster's deformed body feeling more familiar than ever—)
"..[Name]. I'm going to go straight to the point."
He stopped walking beside you, and instead positioned himself right in front of you, as if blocking any escape.
"Why did you come back to me?"
His words felt foreign to you for a moment before it clicked, "You mean when you were captured?"
He gave you a nod, "You could've easily escaped like how you did to Ritsu. So why? Why me exactly?"
There was a 'clack' sound made when you closed your mouth, glancing to your side as you try to figure out a way to answer his question. Why did you go back? Your survival was the most importsnt thing to you, and yet you brought yourself to the lion's den. Was it to just apologise to him? Why couldn't you wait any later than that?
Why did it feel like you'd regret it if you didn't go?
There was a nagging feeling in the back of your head, something that you feel that you should remember. The uncanny feeling made you anxious, almost similar to how claw made you feel—except..it was worst. It was as if there was a missing puzzle in your head, a hole in your chest that left a gaping wound, forcing you to bleed to your death.
"...I don't know."...was all you could muster, "Maybe I felt like I could lose something?" Your voice was filled with uncertainty, and yet the genuineness was there.
