Autumn silenced her alarm and slipped out of bed, hoping to go unnoticed. She pulled her clothes from the closet and slipped into the en suite as silently as she could. Quickly showering and dressing, she applied her make up and did her hair in the bathroom rather than at the vanity as usual. She slipped out of their room, gently closing the door behind her and descended the stairs. When she got to the foyer, she slipped her flats on, pulled on her coat, and quietly grabbed her keys off the stand. Once she settled herself into the driver seat of the jaguar she shuffled through the glove box, pulling something out and putting it in her pocket. As she drove, her mind raced, and her stomach churned. She asked them to meet her early so that Marjorie would be unaware, but as she pulled into the familiar drive, her heart was pounding.
A sleepy looking Siobhan answered the door and invited her in. "She's in the kitchen and she's waiting on you. I'll be in in just a minute." As she entered the kitchen, she could smell the bacon cooking. The dark-haired woman turned at the sound of the door swinging open. "Hiya, babe you alright? Bon should be in soon. She just had to finish getting ready. She has an early parent meeting this morning." The brunette smiled and pulled her into an embrace before placing a kiss on her lips. Just then the blonde walked into the room mumbling something about parents that made them both look over. "Siobhan if this meeting is a difficult parent I can sit in with you. Marjorie won't mind, and it could give us a good reason for me leaving so early." The blonde looked up from her phone. "That would be great. I was actually wondering how I was going to manage them alone. As it turns out he has been cheating with another parent, and now she wants them separated. I have no clue how we are supposed to manage that when their children are in the same room."
The brunette fidgeted with the object in her pocket before blurting out the whole plan to them in practically one breath. "So, I just need to know if you guys are okay with this." The blonde smiled and nodded. "It's a good time, Aut. I think she will flip. I am kind of sorry I won't be there to see it." The brunette look to Viv with worry in her eyes. "Will it make you happy, babe?" She looked from Viv to Siobhan and back again. "It will, Vi, it really will." She stared into the grey blue eyes almost pleading with her. "Then I'm happy babe. If you're happy, I'm happy." The blonde looked down at her watch. "I'm sorry but we need to go now, or we will have them shouting before we even get started."
Marjorie settled in at her desk with a worried look on her face. Autumn hadn't mentioned an early morning and hadn't left a note. Now her car wasn't in the car park. She checked her phone again, but there was still no word. Just as she was about to text again the brunette entered the office slamming the door shut and nearly pulling the blinds off the windows as she pulled them closed. "These parents are completely unreasonable! I cannot believe she expects one of us to stand guard five days a week because her husband can't keep it in his pants!" Marjorie's eyes went wide forgetting all the worry from a moment before.
As the brunette paced by her Marjorie put her arms out and pulled her into her lap. "Beautiful I have never seen you this upset over a parent. What is happening?" As she wrapped her own arms around Marjorie's neck, she gave her a gentle kiss. "I blame you." Taken aback Marjorie looked into her brilliant green eyes. "Me?"
"Yes, you. These last months I have allowed myself to open up. Be vulnerable. Feel ...emotions." She spat out the last word as if it was bitter in her mouth. As Marjorie began to chuckle, Autumn relaxed and the two sat there laughing when they heard a knock on the door. Autumn rose to answer it when Marjorie pulled her back and placed a bruising kiss on her lips. "Go on then." As she rose a second time, Marjorie slapped her bum eliciting a small squeal as she walked toward the door.
As the day came to an end, Marjorie kept glancing up at the brunette. "What is it sunshine?" She shook her head. "Nothing really. I just wondered where's your car?" The brunette looked up from the last of her work. "I drove to Siobhan's, and she drove us in. We can pick it up later. Doesn't have to be tonight. Everyone is gone. I've just finished. Let's go home." She smiled back at her. "I'm already there my love." The brunette shook her head. "Sunshine, I know we are here a lot, but the nursery isn't our home." Marjorie stood and bridged the gap between them before pulling her in and brushing the softest kiss on her lips. "Not the nursery beautiful. You. You are my home."
