Stay Gentle

As the first light of day shone through the curtains of the small boy's room, Jamie woke excitedly. Looking up at his window, "mummy says I can get up when the suns awake." Climbing out of bed the small boy crept out of his room and across the landing towards the master bedroom. Opening the door, he tiptoed in quietly, and as he reached the foot of the bed, Jamie stood for a moment before he climbed on the bed. As he started to bounce between the two sleeping women, he began to shout, "Mummy, Bonnie, wake up! It's time to wake up!"

Viv was the first to wake. As she sat up wiping the sleep from her eyes, she laughed at the small boy still bouncing around on the bed. "Okay, okay little man I'm awake, be careful please." Jamie stopped bouncing around and stood laughing at the blonde who was still sleeping. The mother and son shared a knowing look, and a smile appeared on both their faces.

Jamie put his tiny finger over his lips giggling, "Shush mummy," in a hushed voice. Viv chuckled nodding her head enthusiastically at the small boy. Jamie crept up the bed as quietly as he could, "1" taking another small step towards the blonde "2. Ready mummy?" Viv nodded at him, "3," Jamie shouted as he pounced on Siobhan. Viv laughed as she leaned in to tickle the blonde. Siobhan turned holding her hands in surrender, laughing at the mother and son, "Okay, okay I surrender. I'm awake. I'm awake." Jamie giggled as he leapt into her arms, "We did it mummy! Bonnie is awake."

Viv placed a gentle kiss on the blonde's lips, "Morning Bon," Siobhan sat up pulling the small boy into a tighter embrace as she kissed the top of his head, "Morning little man. Did you have a good sleep?" Jamie smiled and nodded at the blonde. Siobhan smiled back at him, "That's good, little man." The blonde leaned over, "Morning Angel," as she caressed Viv's cheek before kissing her gently. Jamie sat between them, quiet and content.

The little family sat around the dining table eating the pancakes Viv had prepared for their breakfast. Viv took her last bite of pancake, "Bon, I'm going to set up what we spoke about last night, while you and Jamie finish your breakfast." She placed her plate in the sink and headed into the lounge. Viv stood at the bureau collecting cards, a pen and scissors to put together the plan she and Siobhan had come up with for their fun filled day they had planned with Jamie.

Just as Viv had finished writing her final part of the plan, Jamie walked into the lounge closely followed by Siobhan. He ran up to his mum, the small boys inquisitive little mind taking him over, "Mummy what are you making?" Viv chuckled at the small boy and his inquisitive ways, "It's a surprise for you little man." Jamie jumped around the room with excitement, "Yay!" Both women laughed as Jamie jumped around excitedly.

Once everyone was dressed and back in the lounge Siobhan and Viv sat the small boy down. Viv explained to Jamie what was going to happen, "Jamie today you get to choose how we spend our day. In a second Bonnie will hold up some cards and we need you to pick one for us, okay?" Jamie nodded at Viv excitedly, "Okay mummy."

Siobhan held up the two pieces of card for the young boy. Written on the left card was 'the zoo' and written on the right card was 'the train museum'. Jamie walked over to the blonde tapping his tiny finger on his lips, mimicking an action he'd seen both women perform before, "Hmmmm". He stood for a few seconds in deep thought, "I choose this one Bonnie," Jamie took the piece of card and handed it to the blonde, "Bonnie what does it say?"

Siobhan smiled down at him, "It says... we're going to... the zoo," Jamie let out squeals of excitement as he ran into the hall grabbing his coat and shoes, "Come on mummy, come on Bonnie let's go." Viv and Siobhan walked behind the small boy. Viv helped him with his shoes, "There you go little man." Taking his hand in her own she led him out to the car and settled him in his seat while the blonde locked the front door.
