Patrick's POV

I was so tired when we got back. Pete and my dad helped me into my room and sat me on the bed. I felt like Pete didn't like me. I had an asthma attack when I first met him in real life, good one Patrick. I looked at myself in the mirror. My once sharp jaw line had almost gone completely, my cheeks were really chubby, my face was almost round for Christ's sake. That decent looking boy from this morning was gone. I was sweaty and my hair was messed up. I lay back and Pete came into my room quietly. He put his case by the wardrobe and looked at the scales places on the floor. He sat next to me, running his finger slowly down my round cheek. I didn't move.

"Sorry" I mutter.

"For what?"
"Messing up when we first met"

"It's not your fault"
"If I hadn't eaten as irresponsibly as I did, I wouldn't be like this and I wouldn't have developed asthma"

"Don't get yourself worked up about it. You lost some weight didn't you?"

"Yeah, only a stone. I'm eighteen stone and I want to be about eight"
"You can be any weight and you'd still be perfect to me"
"Don't lie Peter" I looked at him.
"Oi, we discussed this, Pat" He smirked at me. I gasped, trying to look offended. I lay down again on my back and sighed.
"Do you normally sigh this much?" Pete chuckled.
"Shut up" I whacked him.
"Ow!" I pulled him down so he was next to me. We looked each other in the eyes.
"Wow, you're pretty" He muttered.
"I'm not" I looked away.
"Your weight does not define your beauty." I pull my shirt neck over my face but it gets caught on my glasses. We both laugh.
"Ohh that reminds me," Pete says excitedly, jumping up. " I have a present for you" He lays his case down and opens it. He brings out a fedora. I heave up.
"Is that for me?" Pete comes and sits back down next to me, placing it on my head and straightening my glasses.
"There. That is beauty right there." I look in the mirror at my new hat. My fringe was visible still. It did look pretty good, I'm not gonna lie. I turned and hugged Pete.
"Thanks buddy"
