"The truth is," Mingyu took a deep breath, avoiding looking at his brother for a brief moment before finally giving in, placing the truth in the silent platter of guilt, "I didn't go to accompany the trucks, at all."

"......"

"What?!"

~

"Where is Chan?" Seungcheol asked the second he entered inside his company building, the counter lady blinking in confusion before bowing towards the owner of the company, "Mr. Lee is in his office, Mr. Choi."

Seungcheol nods, and then looks behind to make sure his puppy brother was still there. Mingyu was. He had been doing nothing but following Seungcheol till here, as he was ordered by the older, though the big pout on his lips did not manage to get him out of the trouble.

"Let's go?" Seungcheol asks, not as a courtesy, but in a way to show he was going to rip both youngers off without a single remorse. The pout though eventually became bigger, the taller again trailing behind his brother, ignoring all the bows and greetings that he witnessed in the way.

Mingyu did not need that wishes and greetings, Chan did. he was the one living on the edge Seungcheol might now push him off at any moment.

And the way he barges inside the office, the door opening with a loud thud and making the youngest flinch from where he was sat, Mingyu knew his work was to silently close the gap that the open door created, letting his brother handle the shit the youngest got himself into.

"Lee Jung Chan," What made Chan stand up on his feets were that cold tone taking his full name, his eyes carefully tracing the older who sat exactly opposite to him, eyes sharp and smile threatening as he stares into his soul, "Mind telling me where were you yesterday?"

"......"

"M-Me?" The trembling finger of the youngest then pointed towards himself, confused, but before he could look over Mingyu to know what was happening, the taller immediately turned around, looking at the wall and trying to count how many bricks were there behind the cemented layer.

"Yes, you." Seungcheol smiled, not in a way Chan would have felt relaxed over, "Where were you Mr. Lee Jung Chan? Mingyu was almost declared dead to us, and as far as I know, you were not with dad as you would have liked to say."

"So care to tell me what was so important that you didn't care about your brother dying and disappeared like you didn't exist?"

"........"

"This vase looks beautiful," It was Mingyu who cut off the silence with his words, and Chan saw him lingering around in the opposite corner of his office, fingers trailing on the vase and head turning to look back at the youngest, "Also, hyung knows."

"........"

"I am sorry." The eyes that held so much confidence were immediately casted towards the floor, and all of sudden Chan's shoulders shrunk small, lips pressed in thin line as his head hung down.

Mingyu knew no matter how much favourite you are of Seungcheol hyung, you can't ever be favoured to the point where he starts ignoring mistakes and lies.

Seungcheol hyung hated liars, "I asked where were you Lee Jung Chan? I did not ask for apologies, so save them for later and answer my fucking question." Seungcheol's teeth gritted in annoyance, "Where were you?!"

Chan was shaking, even his breath trembled when he began replying to the question, "....With Mingyu hyung."

A bitter chuckle was what that escaped from Seungcheol's lip, and when he stood up, Mingyu wanted to do nothing but let the earth swallow him at the moment.
