The story was special. The legend was powerful.
There were moments or story lines I desperately wished for, and moments that at times seemed small but were so important to discover and delve into. This is a book of these moments that I wanted to ex...

Can's alarm sounded but he wasn't ready to face the day just yet. He layed blissfully with his eyes closed reaching for Sanem, ready to hold her close and take in her powerful scent. But instead of Sanem, all he felt was the empty coolness of his sheets. He opened his eyes surprised, wondering where Sanem had gone off to. But as he looked around the room he realized; he was in the Divit home and not at their cottage. He frowned and buried his head in the pillow, realizing that Sanem was only there in his dream and his cruel alarm clock broke the moment.
Can growled into his pillow while throwing the traitor of an alarm clock across the room. The last thing he remembered was Sanem lying next to him, smiling as she curled a strand of his hair around her finger. It was dizzying for him to see the intensity she had of wrapping his hair over and around her finger. Can touched her pillow, hoping, somehow, to feel Sanem's warmth but it was cool to the touch. In a world less cruel, Can would wake up every morning in their mountain cottage huddled close to Sanem.
Can looked around his room lost in thought. Of course to an outsider, Can's bedroom seemed exciting. It was filled with trinkets from his past adventures, books he valued, and cameras he collected with histories of their own. For Can, though, it felt more like a museum of his past. They were echoes of a life he once thought was filled with adventure. But in retrospection, these adventures, while thrilling, were also times where Can realized he had no home to go back to.
The Divit home was a reminder of what Can tried to avoid on his trips. Although Can was grown he was still that lonely lost boy inside and the Divit house was just a house, not a home.
After his parents divorced, Can and his father moved into this new house. Can was given a luxury king size bed that most people would fall blissfully asleep in. However, Can never found comfort in this oversized bed. He was a child who just needed someone to tell him everything would be okay. His mother had gone off to a new country with his little brother, and left him behind with no way of seeing his beloved baby brother ever again. His father was in shambles, drinking every night, and sometimes he wouldn't see his dad for days at a time. Can had no one- just him and his imagination. Often Can wouldn't sleep in his room, he would sleep in the backyard, in a sleeping back or a tent. Can would spend his nights laying under the stars and dreaming of a time he would leave this place. Huddled in his little tent, Can would imagine he was in a hut in the African wilderness. A place where no one could find him- where he didn't need anyone.
When Can was old enough, he found that exact cottage he dreamed about as a child. He would spend years back and forth between traveling around the world and the bliss of returning to his hideout, in the woods of Istanbul. Can never told his family where it was, it was for him and only him.
In fact, the first person to know about its location was Sanem. Can risked it all for a girl he kissed accidently in a darkened balcony. He could have taken her anywhere after they left Fabri's launch party. But the moment she took his hand, the moment she chose to go with him? He just knew. Sanem was the one he trusted to share his secret world. When they finally reached the cottage, Sanem walked into his hideaway with widened eyes. The look of awe on her face was a confirmation that Can made the right decision to let Sanem in. Spending all day with Sanem, slow dancing with her and watching her peacefully sleep on his pullout couch tugged at an ache that Can had since he was a child.
