I silently walk into Niklaus' room, treaty in hand, along with the old-fashioned feather pen and the small glass inkwell holding the mixture of blood, which we had all used as ink to sign the treaty with. Placing it on the table next to where he was currently painting a canvas of the city, I hold the pen up, my back still facing him. "Sign it." I say. "Why? You've already done so on our behalf." He says stubbornly. Sighing quietly, I speak. "Brother, I'm not a fool. It is clear to me that you are not as disinterested as you would like me to believe.." I say, turning towards him. "Sign it, please." I say, refusing to take no for an answer. Turning towards me, he remains silent, staring back at me. Keeping my eyes on him, I speak. "If there is no peace between us, how can you expect the others to follow suit?" I ask.
Sighing in response, he speaks. "Fine. If it will make you happy.." he says, dropping his paintbrush in a can, before quickly snatching the pen from my hand, dipping it in the blood, and beginning to sign. "But, I assure you, this city's inhabitants will not adhere to this agreement.." he says, finishing his signature, looking to me. "Well, you are welcome to wager against me.." I say. "You will lose." I say confidently, turning away from him again, as I hold up the treaty towards the light. "Are we done, then? I'd prefer to get back to my painting." He says. Hearing this, I speak. "Not quite." I say, lowering my hands, catching his attention. "There is another matter I wish to discuss." I say, glancing towards him. Sighing in annoyance, he waits. "Earlier, you found me in the hall, and told me Genevieve wished to speak with me.." I say, before turning back towards him. "Yet, when asked about what she wished to discuss, she seemed to have no idea what I was talking about.." I say. "You wouldn't happen to know anything about that...now would you..?" I ask, eyeing him with a stern expression.

After a few seconds of staring, he smirks, and speaks. "Not a clue." he says, smugness clear on his features. Nodding my head, I chuckle humorlessly, before speaking. "Well, that's good, that's good...because, you see, had you purposefully called me away, just to keep me away from a certain individual that was also present in that hallway.." I trail off. "I would remind you that you are, in fact, a grown man; not a child; and as such...I would advise that you start acting like one.." I say, trailing off, my words earning a glare from him. "Preferably, before your daughter is brought into this world.." I say plainly, before carefully rolling up the treaty in my hands, and smiling again. "Thankfully, that does not seem to be the case.." I say, while the look on my face tells him I believed otherwise. "Do enjoy the rest of the evening, brother.." is all I say, before walking away.
