Star City, 8/18/15, 9:56 PM
Ronnie looked around the corner of the labs as he thought he heard a noise.
"Ronnie?" A voice called out as Ronnie turned around, his eyes widened and his hands fumbled. He watched as two test tubes dropped to the floor shattering on impact.
"Ronnie!" Ronnie jumped back as he looked up seeing Professor Stein walking in, "What the hell are you doing?"
"I was just-" Ronnie began as he backed away, but he slipped on the liquid in the vial. He felt himself falling back and quickly turned his body to reach for the nearest console. His hands slid across a console and gripped the edge. He managed to flip himself up and onto his feet, but the entire building lit up with red lights.
"What did you just press?!" Martin Stein yelled running towards him, "Did you just-?"
The two looked up as the building began to lockdown and the alarm sounded.
"WARNING NUCLEAR MELTDOWN IMMINENT."
"Nuclear meltdown!?" Ronnie's eyes widened, "But that means-!"
"We're about to die, Ronnie." Martin backed away, "Because of you!"
"No I swear I didn't know!" Ronnie yelled back, "I'm sorry! Isn't there anything-?"
"We're about to be incinerated along with the city!" Martin yelled back, "We have to stop it!"
"How!?"
"We need to go into the nuclear reactor." Martin replied rushing out of the door, "Come on!"
"But we'll die!"
"We're going to die either way!" Martin retorted pressing a code into a keypad.
"Oh god." Ronnie felt the blood rushing through his veins, "My family! My friends-!"
"Will mourn you, but right now we have to stop this from killing them too!" Martin yelled moving into the long hallway that led to the reactor. Ronnie rushed in after the professor.
"So what are we going to do?" Ronnie asked as the two rushed through the halls.
"We're going to remove as many reactor cores as possible."
"But won't that kill us on instant?"
"Hopefully no." Martin yelled as they reached the large iron doors. They quickly opened the doors and rushed in as Martin deactivated the safeguards, "You're the strong one! Get those rods out!"
Ronnie complied gripping the rods, but he felt his hands burn on touch, "AGH!"
"Come on Ronnie! You can do this!" Martin yelled rushing over to him, "I'm here to help!"
The two gripped the rods together removing them and both let out cries of pain, but they continued removing the rods. There were too many to remove though, and not enough time. The meltdown had already started.
"This is it Ronnie." Martin yelled, "This is-!"
Two hours later...
"This is reporter Cat Grant standing in the square of Star City just a miles away from Star Labs where a nuclear meltdown has just occurred! This is another incident at Star Labs in just the course of five months! What does this mean for the future of the company?"
Ray watched the screen in shock as the reporter continued.
"You okay Ray?" He heard a voice speak from behind him, he was in his apartment in Star City now. Outside he could see the smoke rising from Star Labs.
