Chicago, 8/22/15, 12:23 PM

Martin widened his eyes as he leaned forward from his slumber.  He was surrounded by darkness inside some sort of truck.  He looked over seeing Ronnie laying beside him, whatever was going on now the two of them were in it together, but what was going on?  Martin remembered the nuclear reactor melting down, but shouldn't the two of them be dead now?

"M..Martin?"  Ronnie asked sitting up, "Wh-What happened?"  He asked looking towards him, Martin shook his head and reached towards Ronnie.

"Come on, we have to get out of-"  Martin began as his hand touched Ronnie's and the entire truck suddenly flashed to life as flames erupted between the two of them.  Martin's vision blurred and suddenly he could see all around, but could not move.

"What's going on?"  Martin yelled in fright, but he realized suddenly that his voice echoed in a sort.

"Martin?  Wh-Where'd you go?"  Ronnie asked looking around, Martin could see through his eyes now.

What was happening?

Ronnie sat back back and Martin suddenly realized what had occurred.  The two had been somehow bonded during the events of the meltdown.  Ronnie's hands were glowing, they had some sort of powers.  He remembered getting taken by the two men now through Ronnie's memories.  The man had said something...

"You were certainly doing fine when you nearly burnt me to a crisp!"

Ronnie and Martin had been transformed into metahumans.  They were one in the same now from touching each other.  Ronnie raised his hand and it suddenly was enveloped in flames.  Martin could barely believe it.

"Ronnie!  Ronnie, I'm here!"  Martin yelled again, "I'm in your head, I think..."

"Wh-What?"  Ronnie asked frightened.

"We're one in the same!  I think...I think I'm in your head and we have flame powers.  We're...We're metahumans."  Martin said as he began to believe it himself, "We have to get out of here!"

Ronnie raised his hand and Martin could feel themselves focusing in on their palm.  A blast of fire shot out hitting the side of the truck.  The flames scorched the metal, but it was such a small blast that it did little damage.

"Hit it with more power!"  Martin insisted as Ronnie raised his hand again.  This time the flames that leaped forward were moving even faster and stronger.  The side of the truck was hit hard now, the metal lurched outward from the force and it began to melt away.  Ronnie continued blasting the fire forward as Martin urged him on.  Finally, the side of the truck melted away creating a hole large enough for Ronnie to fit through.  The metahuman quickly leaped forward through the hole and onto a highway.

"Look out!"  Martin yelled as he saw a car speeding towards them.  Ronnie quickly leaped upwards and fire blasted out of his body.  Martin could barely believe it was they flew upwards.

"We can fly!"  Ronnie yelled looking down at the highway, Martin could see the truck behind them it had stopped and the same huge man was walking towards them.

"YOU!"  The man yelled pointing at Ronnie and Martin, "FIRESTORM!"

"Firestorm?"  Martin asked confusedly, "What does he mean?  Is that what he's calling us?"

"I kind of like it, Doc."  Ronnie commented with a chuckle, "Maybe we could become a superhero!  Like Superman or Green Lantern!"

"Let's just go!  Come on!"  Martin urged, but Ronnie shook his head.

"No more running.  We're going to face this guy and show him what we've got!"  Ronnie yelled flying forward at the man.

Ronnie put his arms forward blasting fire at the man, but he leaped up smashing into Ronnie.  The two smashed into the highway road and the man stood over Ronnie.  He reached down grabbing his leg and tossing him towards the truck.  Ronnie rolled over near it and looked up as the other man walked towards them.
