Chapter Twenty-One: Central City

Central City, 5/28/15, 5:48 PM

Cyborg looked up as the air as the huge airship flew above.  The city was in disarray from the attacks of this new "legion" of super-villains.  It was puzzling to Cyborg and the rest of the League, this new group had arisen so suddenly and without warning.  It was an attack that had to have been planned though.  

Cyborg glanced over at Doctor Fate as he flew down towards him.

"The enemy is being bombarded by our forces, but their ground troops are still pushing the city."

"Then we'll push them back."  Cyborg grinned as he created a plasma cannon on his arm, he moved up the road as he looked down at the forces approaching.  He zoomed in with his scanners, he recognized the approaching villains:  Blockbuster, Icicle Junior, and Warp.  He had fought most of them before, but he knew he needed backup for them.

"This is Cyborg, reporting from the main avenue, we have enemy forces advancing on our position.  We need backup, I repeat we need-"  Cyborg began communicating, but suddenly a car smashed into the street nearby.  He leaped back as a second car was sent tumbling towards him.  It crashed mere meters from his position.  Blockbuster was getting angrier.  He began charging Cyborg's position, Doctor Fate had moved up into the sky to deal with a group of drones.  Cyborg was on his own.

He quickly fired through the street with his plasma cannon, but the attack did little good as the villains evaded it easily.  Icicle Junior ran forward blasting ice towards Cyborg, but he quickly took cover behind a dumpster.  Warp teleported to his position though and quickly grabbed him.  The two teleported again into the middle of the street.  Warp disappeared as Blockbuster took his turn in smashing Cyborg into a parked truck behind him.  Cyborg was sent spiraling through the truck and into the building behind it.  Blockbuster leaped into the building lifting him up and growling in his face.

"Go on."  Cyborg spat, "I dare you."

Blockbuster raised his fist, but something had wrapped itself around his wrist.  He was suddenly pulled out of the building by the golden whip and Cyborg stood up as the villain disappeared.  He ran to the opening in the building to see Doctor Fate lifting Blockbuster up in the air.

Icicle Junior and Warp gathered below as the two readied to attack, but Doctor Fate suddenly blasted a golden light through Blockbuster quickly creating a small hole in his body.  The hole began to expand however; Blockbuster soon lost body mass and began to disappear altogether.  Cyborg's eyes were wide and his mouth gaped open as he watched Doctor Fate literally dissolve Blockbuster into nothing.

Warp quickly grabbed Icicle Junior teleporting away as Doctor Fate dropped Blockbuster's head, which was the only body part left after the attack.  It dissolved as it landed in the street.

"Savage."  Cyborg whispered as he watched, "He just..."

"Cyborg come in!"  A voice yelled over the communicator, "Are you alright?  We can't get backup, but-"

"I'm fine."  Cyborg replied, "The enemy has retreated."

Clayface slammed Superboy into the ground.  Connor sneered as Clayface beat him down.  Kid had escaped, but Clayface continued to beat on Connor because of his want for revenge.

"You're gonna die Kryptonian!"  Clayface laughed as he smacked Superboy into the street.

Superboy quickly launched himself at Clayface again, but the metahuman caught him in his grasp and smashed him into a taxi.  Clayface lifted him up again, but suddenly the entire mass of the metahuman began to move.  Clayface let out a cry as he was sent flying into a building; dropping Superboy as a result.  Superboy looked up as Kid Flash sped up to him.
