Chapter Four: Farfield Harbor

Kaldur paced around the docks as his squad members spoke.

"I say we go after them!"  Jason declared raising his fist, "We can still catch those guys!  And get the one that killed Roy!"

"The assassin was there?"  Megan asked raising an eyebrow to Aqualad.

"Yeah didn't you see it?  Aqualad took that hooded-person on!"  Jason laughed, "It was great!  Until they got away!"

"They didn't get Eddie."  Kyle noted, "So why don't we find him?  It seems they were after him too."

"But why?  What do they want with him?"  Jaime asked with his armor off now.

"Oh probably the part where he has all of those powers."  Connor scoffed, "If anyone got their hands on him who knows what they could do.  Brainwash?  Take his powers somehow?  Imagine the possibilities."

"That's why we will find him."  Kaldur announced as he stopped and turned to the squad, "But the place to look isn't here.  First I need more information on him."

"What do you mean I?"

"I mean I'm going to Atlantis."  Kaldur sighed, "And you all are going to keep things moving around here.  While I'm gone Megan takes charge."

"Why are you going to Atlantis exactly?"  Connor asked narrowing his eyes, "Is something wrong?"

"No, like I said I'm going to find out what Eddie was."  Kaldur sighed, "Just take care of things here.  I'll be back before you know it.  Make sure someone tells Cassie that I'll be back soon."

"I will."  Megan nodded, "If you need any help just call.  Okay?"

"I will."  Kaldur nodded and smiled, "I know you all will be able to figure this out here.  I just need to see something."

"Good luck friend."  Jaime nodded back, "Hope we will see you back here soon."

Kaldur nodded and walked towards the small zeta-tube booth hidden under the cracks of the boardwalk.  He dropped in and the zeta-tube activated.

"Time to head back."  Megan announced as the squad watched Kaldur leave.  Something inside Kyle wanted to know what Atlantis was like, but he knew that there were more pressing matters now.

The squad quickly moved back to Mount Justice II as the smoke rose from further away at the storage facility.  They moved into the main chamber where the rest of the Team was gathered now watching the live feed on the console.

"What happened out there?"  Wally asked leaping up off of the couch as the squad approached them, "And where's Kaldur?"

"Kaldur had to go to Atlantis for some business, but I'm taking charge while he's gone."  Megan replied, Kyle was still impressed by the martian's initiative.  He respected her more than anything else.

"What exactly was out there?"  Grant asked as they walked in, Kyle moved over to him as Megan moved into the center of the circle.  Kyle had really only bonded with Grant and Connor during his time with the Team.  They were serious like him and also skilled with their powers.  Kyle was still learning about his powers, but he was better with them than a few months ago.

While Megan explained what happened the Team listened intently.  Kyle noticed a new girl sitting towards the back with Courtney, Garfield, Wildebeast, and Cassie.  He raised an eyebrow at her in curiosity, who was the newbie?

"And so in order to learn about what Eddie was exactly, Kaldur is going to Atlantis for answers.  So while he's gone we have lots of work to do."  Megan finished finally, "Jason and Wally are going to work to track Firefly, Black Spider, and the assassin.  The rest of us will continue what we've always been doing.  In fact, we've still got that request from Twin City about the rising crime rate in the city, so I think we'll have Courtney, Garfield, and Jaime move in."
