Justice League II: Dread

Chapter Thirteen: Washington D.C

Black Canary narrowed her eyes as she examined the systems.  Whatever or whomever had taken control of their systems was good.  It was almost like they were inside the League's own system.

"Find out what's going on yet?"  Shazam asked walking up behind her, he had been pacing around the Hall for an hour now, they were locked inside the building after the lockdown.  Their communications were down and zeta-beams were down too effectively trapping them inside.  

"Yeah, when can we figure out what's going on?"  Cyborg asked walking over, "None of my tech is working, it's almost like I'm blind."

"Look, I'm trying my best here.  We've got no way to warn anyone about this.  With Clark in New York with the lanterns, Wonderwoman in the infirmary, and most of the League scattered we've got no way of getting backup.  The Team is likely in trouble too!"  She exclaimed as sweat moved down her head, if the Team was in trouble she would never forgive herself if something happened.

"Why don't you just bust us out?"  Cyborg asked looking over to Shazam.

"Because we're locked in.  Those walls are strong enough to keep Superman out.  Batman made sure of it."  Shazam sighed, the entire building was on lockdown.  No one was leaving.

"How's Diana?"  Dinah asked as she banged her head on the console.

"She's getting better, that run in with Ocean Master did her in.  I still can't believe we lost Aquaman..."  Cyborg sighed sitting down on a bench, "Things are changing more than ever now."

"You can say that again."  Shazam nodded, "It's still really weird having Vandal Savage walking around here from time to time."

"Wait a second..."  Dinah raised her hand to quiet them, "Something's happening.  The building's lockdown is shutting off.  We'll be free soon!"

"Why?"  Cyborg asked in confusion, "Who let us out...?"

"I don't know-"  Dinah began to look over as the metal shutters lifted themselves up from the windows, but she shielded her eyes as several helicopters were flying outside with lights trained on the building, "Get down!"  She screamed getting to cover as several machine guns opened fire on the building.  Shazam flew forward attacking the nearest helicopter, but Cyborg and Dinah took cover behind a metal barrier.

"I guess we have our hackers!"  Cyborg yelled firing from their spot, "You think it was all them?"

"Doubt it!"  Dinah yelled over the guns, "Let's find out!"

Cyborg rolled to the side firing at a helicopter and hitting it out of the sky.  Dinah rolled the opposite way making her way to the windows and leaping out.  Several dark figures met her in hand-to-hand combat.  Assassins of the League of Shadows, Ra's Al Ghul's men.

Shazam flew down knocking several assassins away as they attacked.  The last helicopter fired off an RPG missile hitting the Hall of Justice head on.  Dinah ran forward knocking the last assassin down as Shazam flew up to the helicopter to fling it away.

Dinah stood up as Black Canary and looked around at the area to see if there were more threats.  She looked over as a familiar face moved up towards the front square.

"Slade."  She hissed in anger as the assassin moved up towards her.

"Miss me Black Canary?"  Deathstroke asked raising a sword in his right hand and a pistol in the other.  He had a black metal leg now with orange highlights.  It was obviously another deathtrap in his tool belt.

Black Canary raised her hands for the fight, but she looked to the side as Cyborg joined her.

"Slade!"  He yelled raising his cannon, "Time we end this!"
