Chapter Nine: Twin City

Stargirl narrowed her eyes as she looked around at the city.  Beastboy and Blue Beetle flanked her on both sides as they crouched low on the rooftop.  The city was asleep, but the criminals were not.  This was not her first time in Twin City, the city was in the middle of the state of Maine and was known for its great Nascar races, but recently crime had been spiking.  The squad had been monitoring it for a few days now.  Stargirl looked out at the city with her staff in her left hand.  She squinted looking into the distance as she saw movement now.

"There."  She pointed out at an alleyway a few yards away, "I see something.  Beastboy, you're up."

"Got it!"  Beastboy nodded and ran forward leaping into the air, mid-air he morphed into a small dragonfly and began moving towards the source.  Stargirl and Blue Beetle moved in after him silently flying through the sky.  She watched as Beastboy slowly made his way towards a dumpster in the same alleyway where a truck came to a halt and a group of people were gathering behind it.

"Get these two into the next truck!"  A man yelled leaping out of the truck, "Where the hell is the next truck?"

"They're late sir."  Another man reported walking up to him.

"Damnit, we can't be here all night with these two!"  The man yelled as some of the others opened the back, Stargirl tried to look in, but she saw nothing.  Beastboy saw it too though and flew forward towards the truck.  He flew inside and disappeared for a moment while Stargirl and Blue Beetle listened on.

"Sir, what should we do?  The police could see us!"  A man asked in fear as the group began to scramble around.

"The police can't stop us!"  The man in charge laughed a bit, "We're going to be fine!  Calm your asses down!  Just wait!"

"Hey!"  A man yelled walking out of the shadows, "Shut up!  All of ye!  You hired me so that I could protect your little business, and it's going to be hard to do that if the police do indeed show up!  So keep quiet and wait!"

"I recognize him..."  Blue whispered to Stargirl softly, "He's-"

"GUYS!"  A soft voice whispered loudly, Stargirl widened her eyes as Beastboy appeared in front of her, "You won't believe who was-!"

"Shut up!"  Stargirl whispered as Beastboy morphed into his human form.  

"They're on their way sir!"  Another man reported, "Should be here in ten!"

"Ten?"  The man in charge asked, "Damnit, someone's going to be mad."

"We need to get those two out of the truck now!"  Beastboy insisted morphing again, "If you won't then I will!"  He ran forward past Stargirl morphing into an elephant and landing in the middle of the group of men.

"NO!"  Stargirl yelled as he did, he roared and knocked several men down with his tusks and sprayed a few with his trunk.

"Minuswell!"  Blue agreed flying into the air and knocking a few men back with his plasma-cannon.

"Fine."  Stargirl muttered in anger flying into the air and firing with her staff into the fray.

Beastboy morphed again now, into a gorilla though.  He ripped open the back of the truck, which had been closed again, and revealed the two captives inside.  Stargirl looked in seeing Black Lightning and another strange looking figure.  So that's why Beastboy was so worked up...

"Get down!"  A man yelled as a gun went off.  Blue quickly flew in knocking the man back, but something hit him down.  Stargirl looked over seeing a man running forward and forcing his hands through the air.  His hands created a force of wind that blew Stargirl back with amazing force.  She widened her eyes as she felt the cold sensation on her body hitting her swiftly.  Blue fired a staple at the man locking him to the side of a building.
