Writer's Pov
Cafe Mystre
"What are you talking about?" Lakshmi asked, her voice caught somewhere between confusion and curiosity.
Dev's grin deepened, that familiar spark of mischief glinting in his eyes. "Normal Lakshmi is sweet," he said slowly, his tone dangerously calm. "But drunk Lakshmi... she's something else."
Lakshmi blinked, unsure if she'd heard him right. "What are you trying to say?" she asked, her pulse quickening.
Leaning forward slightly, Dev let his voice dip lower ..... calm, teasing, but laced with heat. "Let's just say you don't hide your feelings when you've had a drink or two."
Her breath hitched. "Dev!" she exclaimed, trying to sound offended, but the tremor in her tone betrayed her.
Dev embraced her and carried on. '' Lakshmi, we did it throughout my flat. On my bed, in my room, on my couch, in my kitchen, on the tabletop , my balcony ''
He chuckled softly, the sound rich and disarming. "You don't remember much, do you?" His gaze held hers for a heartbeat too long. "You kept holding my hand like it was the only thing keeping you grounded. You wouldn't let me move an inch away. You wanted to be on my top...."
Her cheeks flushed. "You're making that up," she muttered, turning away.
"I'm not," he said, leaning closer. His breath brushed the side of her face.
''However, I was enjoying every moment of it. Sweetheart, I was completely in your arms. I went deeper and I was all inside you..... Your moans each time, when I ...... '' When Lakshmi heard his remark, her eyes widened.
"And trust me... you were unforgettable."
Lakshmi froze, unable to think, her heart pounding in her chest. She stood abruptly, pretending to busy ..... anything to escape that gaze that made her melt inside.
But the echo of his words wouldn't leave her. Unforgettable.
She tried to distract herself and went down to take her dinner, but even the aroma of food made her stomach twist. She took a small bite, frowned, and pushed the plate away. For days now, her appetite had been strange , one moment starving, the next completely nauseated. She sighed and leaned back, rubbing her temple.
Just then, she heard soft footsteps. Dev descended from room and sat across from Lakshmi, he was partially naked. She was too embarrassed to look at his face or his bare chest. The dim café light hit his face just right, casting a warm glow across his sharp jaw and tired eyes.
Lakshmi's throat went dry. She looked anywhere but at him.
"Why so tense?" he teased gently, resting his elbow on the table. "You look as if you've seen a ghost."
"Maybe I have," she murmured under her breath.
Dev smiled knowingly. "You don't have to avoid me, Lakshmi. I don't bite..." He paused just long enough for her to glance up nervously. "......unless provoked."
Her eyes widened, and Dev laughed quietly, the sound wrapping around her like silk.
She tried to compose herself. "It's just... you should be resting, Dev. You were hurt."
He shrugged, wincing slightly but masking it behind another grin. "Resting's boring. Watching you fuss over me is far more comforting."
Dev smirked as he watched her facial expressions and couldn't look at him. Pulling her plate towards him, Dev grabbed a spoon for himself.
