Kyle was having a lovely Christmas until it all went to hell. First Connor disappeared, that was terrifying enough but then Adam came running in. No, it wasn't a stressed and pissed off Adam that ruined his night, he could've handled that. No, it was the woman who came with him. CoCo was the last person he expected to see in Victor Newman's living room.

"Who's the chick with Adam?" Kyle asked Summer. He noticed that CoCo was doing her best to avoid starting at him.

"Ugh, Sally's sister." Summer answered, disgust evident in her voice. "I can't believe Adam had the balls to bring her here."

"Why is that?" Kyle asked, trying to look her over casually. He didn't see anything wrong with CoCo. She looked fine to him, maybe too fine.

"She's just like her sister. A snotty, scheming, gold-digging bitch." Summer spat. The two of them watched Adam and CoCo leave the house with Connor. "Good, now we can enjoy the rest of our holiday." Summer visibly relaxed.

Kyle was confused over the amount of hate Summer carried towards CoCo; all because she was Sally's sister. Admittedly he didn't like Sally either, but CoCo seemed the complete opposite. He needed to talk this over with CoCo soon.

"Come on CoCo answer me." Kyle said aloud later at home. Summer and Harrison had gone straight to bed but he couldn't get to sleep. He had been texting CoCo all night only for her to ignore him. He was startled when his phone pinged; pinged with a text from CoCo.

CoCo was seated on Adam's living room couch with a Christmas movie on low volume as she stared at all the text messages from Kyle. Apparently, he was really desperate to talk to her and she had no idea what she wanted to say to him. Her heart had fallen into her stomach the moment she saw Kyle walk into the living room with Summer and a little boy. How could he have never told her he was married?

She looked down to see another message from what had to be Kyle. She rolled her eyes as she opened it.

CoCo please talk to me.

Why should I?

So, I can explain. Explain everything.

Why yes, I'd love to know why you decided not tell me you were married.

Why does it matter?

CoCo stared at that very loaded question. It mattered for one very stupid reason, one that was now off the table for her. And it hurt to admit that, it hurt a lot.

Are you still there? Where did you go? Damn Kyle was persistent.

Calm down, I'm here. I have other things to do besides read your guilt texts.

Ouch, but I deserve that. You should come over to my pool house, we can talk there.

Why the pool house? Is it so your wife can't find us?

...

I knew it. Look if you want to talk to me so badly, you'll come here to Adam's house. Otherwise lose my number.

CoCo ended the conversation. She had nothing else to say and she knew that Kyle didn't have the spine to come over to Newman territory without the shield of his wife. Wife, what a loaded word that turned out to be. She hated Kyle for not telling her; she never would have let herself start to fall for him if she knew. What had started as a desperately needed friendship for the both of them, turned into something more, at least on her end.

A knock at the front door took her out of her self pity mental rant. Moving the curtain to get a look at who was there, she froze at the sight of a shivering Kyle. Not for the first time she turned out to be wrong about Kyle Abbott.

"Kyle what are you doing here?" CoCo whispered yelled, moving aside so Kyle could enter.

"You said if I wanted to talk I had to come to you, so that's what I did." Kyle responded. "Is that still an option or are you chickening out?"

CoCo narrowed her eyes at the challenge. She was a Spectra, and a Spectra never walked away from a challenge. "No, I'm not chickening out. I'm just surprised you had the balls to actually show up."

To her surprise Kyle simply nodded and took a seat on the couch. She moved to sit on the other couch cushion. "I owe you an explanation and an apology." CoCo snorted by otherwise stayed silent. "The night we met was the night Summer had a miscarriage. It was still so fresh, I couldn't say it, it was too painful. Plus, I didn't think Summer would want me telling a complete stranger our business especially since it was happening to her."

CoCo felt some of her anger at Kyle melt away. She felt terrible that Summer and Kyle had lost their child. And she could even understand why he didn't tell her that night, but there were all the other times. "I'm so sorry that you both went through that. That's absolutely awful. I understand why you didn't tell me all of that when we met."

Kyle gave her a slight smile. "But." It fell when she said that. "But why didn't I mention it later?" He asked before she could.

"You have to admit it's a fair question." CoCo shrugged trying to come off indifferent.

"It is." Kyle nodded in agreement. Taking a deep breath, he launched into what he knew was a shit excuse, "I have no good explanation. I liked that you didn't have my entire background, you didn't know Summer's Kyle, you just knew me as me. Then I started to feel guilty. Guilty because I was talking to you more than Summer. Guilty because I looked forward to our conversations, it was so much easier to talk to you then Summer. And I knew you needed me, that you didn't have any friends besides your brother-in-law. I thought that if you knew I had a wife, a family, you wouldn't want to talk and I needed those chats."

CoCo was frozen on her side of the couch, Kyle's confession hanging in the air. She knew she had to say something, but what could she even say to that? "Um wow. There's a lot to unpack there."

"Yeah." Kyle awkwardly chuckled, CoCo joining in after a moment. "So, what happens now?"

"Well, now that I understand your reasoning, I'm not pissed at you anymore. I'd still like to be friends, but no more secrets."

"Deal." CoCo stood up, Kyle copying her. He held out his hand for a handshake and was surprised when she pulled him into a hug. It felt nice, very nice. After a few moments, CoCo broke the hug telling Kyle to get home to his wife. They exchanged holiday wishes before Kyle left. The young woman sunk onto the couch; her head more confused than before. She had to sort out her feelings for Kyle Abbott, the sooner the better.
