CoCo had to get away from Crimson Lights. The guilt from her selfishness was hitting her like a tidal wave. Her sister was in the hospital, could've died, and she was too busy sleeping with a married man to notice. She jumped into her car and froze not knowing what to do or where to go.
She pulled down the driver's seat visor, staring at her reflection in the mirror, "Get yourself together Spectra." She scolded herself; Sally needed her, there wasn't time for her to mope about her life. She took a couple of deep, calming breaths to get herself together before driving to Adam's house. She was not about to see her sister for the first time in months smelling like sex and regret.
After taking a long, hot shower she got redressed and drove to the hospital. She had hoped that the shower would wash her actions away, but she could still feel Kyle's hands all over her. "Dammit, stop thinking about Kyle. Your sister needs you!" CoCo gave herself a pep talk on her drive. "Focus on Sally." She repeated that mantra until she parked in the hospital's parking garage. One jumpy elevator ride later she was on Sally's floor.
"Excuse me, could you please tell me what room my sister is in? Sally Spectra." CoCo asked the nurse at the nurse's station. The kind nurse took one look at the crazed frenzy in CoCo eye's and pointed her in the right direction. She took off running shouting thanks. She entered Sally's room in a daze, barely noticing that Adam and Jack were standing slightly behind her.
"I'm so sorry that I'm late." CoCo felt the need to apologize for some reason. She froze as she took in her sister's appearance; she looked so lifeless, so cold. The guilt, the fear, the anger, all the emotions of the past few months came crashing down on her and she burst into uncontrollable sobs. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry." She apologized to her sister, to Kyle, to Summer, to everyone for everything.
Apparently, her crying must've scared the men because shortly after she arrived Adam whispered that he was going to walk Jack out. She muttered an acknowledgement without breaking eye contact with Sally's sleeping form. When he didn't come back after a few minutes, CoCo realized he was giving her some alone time with her sister. She'd have to remember to thank him for that.
"Hey Sally, it's your favorite sister." CoCo joked through her tears. "I'm so happy that you're here and safe and hopefully recovering soon. I've missed you; we've all missed you. Especially that man of yours, he made it his personal mission to find you. I was honestly surprised that Paul didn't block his number." She was rambling now. "And I have to congratulate you on this beautiful baby girl. She already looks like you."
CoCo paused for a minute, trying to get her sniffling under control. "God, Sally I've really messed up this time. I'm in love; I'm in love with the wrong man. It's Kyle Abbott. Yes, the Kyle Abbott that's married to Adam's niece." She looked over at Sally to see if she was awake; nope she was still out. If that news wasn't going to wake her up, then nothing was.
"You're stunned speechless, I know. I couldn't believe it either, I still can't." CoCo joked. "There's just something about him, I don't know. I can't explain it. What I feel for him, I've never felt for another man before. I'm not saying it's like you and Adam, but maybe it could be, one day, maybe." She unleashed a heavy sigh.
A whimper got her attention, and she turned around to see her new niece was awake. "I'm sorry baby girl; I'll pay attention to you now." The baby stared up at CoCo with her bright blue eyes. This child was the future of the Spectra family, and she needed a better role model for an aunt. She needed an aunt that wasn't sleeping with her cousin's husband. "Baby girl, you have your entire life ahead of you. I'm so excited to be your number one cheerleader on your journey. And the first step towards becoming that cheerleader is to stop throwing myself at the quarterback."
Apparently, the baby wasn't much interested in her aunt's speech as she promptly fell right back asleep. CoCo smiled slightly before turning her attention back to her unconscious sister. "I'm going to be better Sally, I mean it." She kissed her sister on the head. Her stomach was growling, and she was in desperate need of some food. After a brief conversation with Adam, she went in search of some decent cafeteria food.
