I made it to the track by 9 am. Yeah, that's just too late. What can one do when you sleep at 4 am? The date ended before four am but I was just fantasising other possibilities as I was waiting for my escape into even a better fantasy world.
The date was beautiful. Vivan had arranged a candle light dinner for us at the backside of the resort by the swimming pool. Perfect location, perfect arrangements, and most of all, perfect person to share that with. The sky was unusually clear. No sign of rain. I guess winter was taking over. I managed to eat very less, like only a plate of fruit salad last night so that I could have a hearty meal with him.

-------------

He had arranged pizzas for dinner. I remember how on our first date we ate pizza and talked about birds and all. Those were amazing days. It sounds really stupid, I mean, candle light and pizza don't go hand in hand but it's perfect for us. "I'm glad you're here for some reason or the else," I told him. He smiled.
"I grab every opportunity to be around you," he said. That makes me blush.
"And does your dad allow you to take so many days off?"
"I manage. It's in house business. So it's not much of a problem but he does wonder where exactly I go apart from the wildlife tours I take up," he had said. I nodded. Our parents still don't know about us. Been together with each other for so many years and still we haven't mustered up courage to speak to them. That's a shame.
"Do you know that I will be in serious trouble if the girls see me here with you," I informed him.
"Not my problem, really. Vicky knew that I am your boyfriend, yet she asked me to come. She knew that this was coming on its way. So it's not my mistake." I roll my eyes at him.
"Stop doing that to me!"
"Stop doing what?"
"You always roll your eyes at me. Stop doing that!" And I laugh hard. It irritates the hell out of him but he is just so cute when he is irritated. Plus I know that if I stop doing this, he is going to miss it. So, I'm not changing.
I take a large bite of the pizza slice. It's a special mix by him which includes - mushroom, black olives, capsicum, corn, and little cubes of pineapple here and there. He dips his slice into the sauce.
"Who eats pizza with tomato sauce?"
"I do," he said as if it's so common.
"How do you?"
"I don't know. I just like how tangy it becomes when I take a bite of it," he says licking the sauce off his fingers.
"Gross.." He grins as he dips it into the sauce again and eats it.
"So what exactly are we doing here?" Curiosity at its best.
"Why? You don't like it?"
"It's not that.. I mean we don't need something so special to spend our time together. A good movie or just talking does the job in our case. This was just unexpected," I say looking around at the very well decorated area.
"We don't need it but you deserve it. You deserve the best because just your mere presence makes my life beautiful. It makes me wanna be me and a little more lively every passing day. You bring surprises with you everyday of my life, so even I get to surprise you once in a while, don't I?"
I turned as red as the tomato sauce in front of me. If he says anything more sweet, I'm gonna get diabetes. "You are just too cheesy today," I manage to say. He smirks as if he had planned to do so. "What are you up to, Vivan Desai?"
"Me.. I am up to something, actually," he say fidgeting in his seat to get his pocket as I am left with curiosity killing me every moment.

  ---------------

I ran all the way to the track where I found everyone had already taken a round and were now having their energy drinks. "Where were you?" "What took you so long?" "We were here hours ago." Were the few statements I got to hear.
"I'm sorry. I just needed some sleep. I was tired from the car ride so I needed to rest," I tell them not really knowing whether I should tell them the truth or not. I notice Zara eyeing me up and down. I place my hands in my pocket avoiding her gaze. The bitch is skeptical. I need to be calm.
"So what are you waiting for," Alisha asks.
"Love me like you do. La-la love me like you do. Love me like you do....." Zara began to sing. That's some thing she has adopted from a pair of twins we knew in our school days. You hear a line someone says, and if it fits perfectly in a song you know, you just sing the further part.
Alisha gives her a glare.
"I was thinking about that," Vicky gave her a high-five. I rolled my eyes.
"So as I was saying, we have already ran all the way through the track. So you need to do that," Alisha informs me.
"Umm.. Alone?" I asked as innocently as I could.
"Umm.. Yes," she said matching my tone. I give her a look and she fake smiled back. The sun was no where to be seen. It's like he took a day off. The dark clouds had gathered up and as I turned around to have jogged only two to three steps, the rains started to pour. I am breakdancing in my head. I just did not want to exercise today.
People exchange glances as they start sprinting towards the resort. By the time we reach the shed we all are drenched in the rain. I catch my breath and look at the others. They all give me looks. "Bitch," Zara says as I smile from ear to ear.
I notice Vivan make his way out of the resort to where we were. He looks at me and gives me a smile. My smile grows wider.
"So what do we do now," I hear Vicky say.
"I dunno.. The whole track will get wet," says another runner there.
"It will be better tomorrow, won't it," I ask.
"It has to," says the volunteer. "But it won't if the rain keeps falling continuously."
"Great," Alisha groans.
Everyone talks among their own groups as we look at each other's faces.
"So what do we do rest of the day," Zara asks.
"We exercise inside in the gym and then in the evening get ready to go out," Alisha says.
"Out where?"
"Somewhere," she says.
"Oh cool," Vivan butts in as Kanish and Karan smile at the idea.
"What? You guys aren't invited. It's still a girls trip," she dismisses them.
