A break from the road

We are on the way down to Delhi. I hate night travelling but I also happened to like it. The main thing about it being that we don't realise how the time passes away. Cause the car ride on the hill is always tiresome and bumpy. Plus it's too boring. Wastes so much of the day by just sitting in an uncomfortable seat.
We were all set for our night sleep after 12 midnight when the car stopped beside a huge lake which was fenced. "What's wrong?" Vicky groaned from the back.
"The engine has stopped," said the driver and left the car. Not safe to stay in the car with the driver outside. Not safe to stand out with the driver at this point of time.
"Girls I guess we got a sleepless night ahead." A few more groans were heard and they all got up. We pulled up the Zips of the jacket and wrapped the shawls around us tighter.
"Uncle, what exactly is the problem," Zara asked.
"I don't think that I know as of now."
"Then when will you know," I asked as I looked at the greyish clouds appearing from the gear.
"Let me call a mechanic," he said and got his phone.
In the meantime, we called the institute. I was exceptionally glad that they took the call at this hour. We told them the details of the car, the drivers name and sent then the photo of his license on a number which they sent. Well, safety always comes first.
"Is there a place where we can crash or just drink something hot?"
He thought for a while and then looked around. "There's a night cafe or something like that up there," he pointed at a soft hill which had a wooden cottage like house... something like the house Derek Shepherd had built for Meredith Grey in Grey's Anatomy.
"That's our shelter for tonight then," Alisha said. "Find us there when the car is good to go."
We walked through the small road to the hotel. We saw many youngsters sitting at the table and shaking their heads to the beats of the songs, completely enjoying themselves.
"I hope this place is hot," Alisha said as She took the door knob in the hand and pushed it open. And comparatively it was warm. We found an empty table and ordered hot chocolate. I looked at Alisha and she wouldn't get rid of the grin she had on her face.
Vicky got up her seat and visited the loo.
"What's the matter with you," I gave her a skeptical look.
"What?" She said.
"Don't say 'what', I can smell something fishy from you!"
"Okay.. Don't tell a word to Vicky.. I've got a surprise for her.."
"Surprise," Zara raised her brow. She finally decided to look away from her phone and pay us some attention. I really don't get why she is getting so involved with Kanish. I mean, she has a boyfriend. She shouldn't be doing this. I hope she ain't messing around cause I don't expect that from her. She isn't someone who would go around messing with other guys while she is in a relationship with someone else.
"A surprise for Vicky," I told her.
"I need to know that!"
"Patience, love," Alisha said.
"I'll die of curiosity until I get to know about this surprise!"
"Shush, she's coming," Alisha said getting back to her normal mode and pretending as if nothing happened which totally sucks, cause she looks weird and it doesn't settle well with our eyes. My point is proven correct when Vicky gives her a skeptical look and says, "what the fuck is wrong with you?"
I giggled. She gave me a glare. I shut up.
"Nothing," Alisha said and we all turned to the stage to see that the mix group on stage were done singing out loud in their hoarse and thick voices. We still clapped for them cause it needs guts to step on a platform and sing when you know you might get showered with eggs or tomatoes or worst, the shoes. Though now a days people are careful with the shoe. Well, what will you do with just one shoe, right? It's not like the performer you've thrown your boot at will return your it to you.
"Excuse me people," Alisha said and got off the table. "Where the hell is she going?"
She then went to the host and whispered something to him and they were talking for a while. Then she returned back and sat on the table.
"Don't tell me that you planned to set up Vicky with him!" Zara yelled.
"OF COURSE NOT! What makes you think like that! I'm not desperate enough to get my best friend hooked up with a random guy!"
The host walked to the stage. "Okay guys, we have a special performance. Do you know how important marriage is to a girl? I suppose everyone does. But do you know how important the pre marriage days are for her? Well they matter more than the marriage itself cause in a day all your priorities change. So we have a group of four on a spinster trip. And as the bride wishes, herself and her group would like to perform something for all of us. So guys, welcome these girlfriends with a round of applause."
"Not so girly girlfriends," Zara corrected.
"Oh yes, Not so girly girlfriends."
"I'm not doing this," Vicky said immediately.
"You're not alone. We all are doing it with you," Alisha said.
"I mean, you've said a speech on a stage in front of media, come on man, this should be a cup of tea for you."
"Speech is something else, I cannot fucking sing, do you get that?!"
"You know what, I was going to send you up there all alone, but I won't. We all will be there with you. Just get over it. You have a good voice, just sing. Let it out. Stage fears need to be thrown away at some point. Come on now," Alisha took her hand in hers and led all of us to the stage.
"Seriously," Vicky said again.
"At the end of the trip I don't want your slot to be empty where all of ours have been ticked," Zara said.
