Zara
We all had met each other after 2 months. It was vicky's 22nd birthday party. She doesn't usually throw fancy parties. She likes to keep it simple and celebrate it with people who are dear to her just like she invited us over at her house for lunch in the past years followed by a family dinner and a long drive with ice cream. But this party was important to her. She wasn't just turning 22 but also going to have her own publishing house in about a year or so from now. This party was supposed to announce this huge news. It was her gift from her father.
Yes, a gift. She had talked about it with a lot of people so that she had enough funds to make her dream exist but being so young she didn't succeed. She was eligible and had the knowledge of what she wanted to do but how can a big elderly businessman trust a 22 year old girl with a big amount of money for a business she wants to own? Not possible in real life. But her father, Mr. Sharma, made sure his daughter got her dreams fulfilled. She was his baby girl just like every daughter is for her father. He made a few quick calls including one to my father. He set up a conference room for the meeting. He presented the same presentation Vicky had made to all of us. He properly explained her plans and views which gave away that how carefully and intently he heard out his daughter since he exactly knows what she wants. He didn't even stumble while clearing a few doubts on a question which I thought he didn't know the answer of.
How do I know of all this? Well, my father had taken me along with him for the meeting. I'm glad he did so. I made a vote of confidence in her favor and promised him that she'll be able to do this. She has the capability to do it and this is her dream and if I get to play part in the making of this dream then why not? Even if that means for her to never know about how I made them realise that she could do it and convince the oldies that they could invest in this proposal, it is fine with me. All I want is for her to be happy since I know that if I was in that place she would do the same for me. We are best friends after all.
So we all were meeting each other after two months. She wondered why her father threw such a lavish party. Little did she know about the surprise. After the cake and all was cut her father grabbed the mic and cleared his throat before he announced that Vicky will now be having her own publishing house. The smile on her face at that moment was the best smile I had ever seen. She was so tired and messed up for the past month. She wouldn't even force a smile on FaceTime.
I went to get a drink before she made a small speech to thank for all the support and so on. The bar was in the corner of the room which secluded an empty hallway from the grand hall. I asked for red wine and as I was about to leave with my drink I overheard a conversation. I still don't know if it was a good thing or not, either ways I was not able to do any good out of that information.
The conversation was between Nihal, Vicky's brother, and, I'm assuming, his so called friend. The conversation was heated. Nihal was drunk over his limits otherwise he is a sweet guy and a responsible brother. The guy in front of him was taunting him. Making fun of him. Telling him how he was going to sweep the floors while his sister would be taking over the company. Nihal was focused on defending his sister and being on her side when the other guy said, "today you are determined on defending your sister but you'll remember this moment when one day she'll make sure to have you realise that you are a nobody as she makes her way on top of the world. That is going to be your life. Being a nobody." These words were more than enough to screw up his head.
I didn't know whether his words had a toll on his thoughts yet I tried my best to find Vicky to tell her what all happened. By the time I found the girl in emerald green dress, she was already standing in the podium. "Excuse me everyone. I'm going to make this quick since this party will be more fun than what my speech is. So let me take this opportunity to thank those who mean the most to me. To those who have always loved me and did everything to make my dreams come true-" she had just started to be cut of by a single person giving a slow clap. The kind of slow clap you give a person you least like. Her eyebrows furrowed as she stared at him while he stood right in between of the hall grabbing everyone's attention.
"Wow little sister," he said with a devilish smirk. No, this could not be happening. "Congratulations! How does it feel to crash all my hopes and get all the shares which I rightly deserved?"
She was taken aback, obviously not knowing what he is talking about.
"Definitely you had begged dad to give you the money which he was supposed to give it to me for my business."
"What are you saying?" She asks still not knowing what is going on.
"Dad is also one of the investors in your publishing house among the others. You knew that even I needed money for my business yet you made him give you this share? How could you ruin my dream? How could you do this to me? How could you be so selfish?"
"Nihal, I-" she tried to say but was interrupted again.
"Oh please! Keep your bullshit with you. Dad came to me two weeks ago to talk me about giving my money to you so that you will get to complete your dream. I agreed because you are my sister. Little did I know that you were planning to shove me down while heading up high. He didn't mention your name but I am sure you beamed your so called 'puppy eyes' and added that 'pretty' in front of the 'please'. You did that to ruin me! I thought we were better than that!"
People exchanged whispers and gasped at the accusations. A single tear escaped from her eye. "I swear I didn't know it," she tried to keep her voice steady.
"Yeah right. Says the princess who always gets her way out. You are so selfish and so stupid that not even your freaking BOYFRIEND wants to stay with you. Because you are so mean I'm sure you tried to pull him down and kept him dancing on your fingertips. Though I'm sure he has used you very well, of course, before throwing you in the dustbin. But I'm glad he did that to you. You belong right there. You ruined me, little sister. You are a piece of disgust in my eyes." Before he could continue his speech his father pulled him away. That should have been done earlier but I'm sure no one was able to function the happenings. Nihal and Vicky are, or I suppose, were, the best pair of brother and sister. This was shocking.
It was a just a month ago when Aarav had broken her heart. Poor thing was barely out of that trauma. He was so supportive after the break up. He even wanted to break the guy's every single bone but he was stopped by Vicky. Trust me when I say that he would have if he could have. I only hoped it wouldn't have gone where it did. I think if I had my eyes on Nihal while she gave the speech then none of these would have happened rather than going to find Vicky who was clueless.
"You were not invited," Vicky screams at her brother. He is trying his best to keep calm while she is trying her best to piss him off and make him leave right away.
"I am your brother! I have the right to be there on your special moments to watch you as you achieve big things," he told her.
"Is it? Cause the last time I achieved something you were focused on embarrassing me in front of the crowd," she said.
"I was not in my senses," he tried to protest.
"Seriously? Is this how you'll be defending yourself?"
"Just freaking give me another chance," he yells matching her tone with a hint of desperateness in his tone.
"Give you another chance so that you'll ruin this event as well?"
"Oh come on! I am not here to ruin this, believe me," he says hopefully.
"There is 'lie' in every 'believe'," she responds very thoughtfully.
"Shut up both of you," Myra makes herself visible. I didn't even realise when she entered in here. All eyes are now glued on her. "Are you both kidding me? You guys were the most amazing pair of sibs I had ever seen. The best partners in crime. And trust me, partners in crime don't break up this easily. And Vicky, he has been moping around you for one freaking year! Isn't that enough? He would have had given up so easily. He would have let you go and started afresh but did he? He still begged for your forgiveness. That doesn't not make him any lesser of a person than you. Stop acting like a fool and get over this. You can't punish your brother for one mistake which wasn't even his fault for so long. He is your older brother for Gods sake! You have to be lucky to have an older brother. It's a privilege. And someone as good as your brother means you are one of the luckiest persons ever! Ask Zara how it feels to not have an older brother. Ask Alisha and she'll trade your brother any day. Ask me because I have known him since the time I have known you. This sibling rivalry is going nowhere. You are just missing out on the good years. You'll regret this time that you have wasted in this fight few years down the line. Don't make that mistake."
I'm in awe. She spoke so well. This was the best speech she ever gave! I turn my head to find that Vicky is slowly nodding her head.
"That also means that if you mess up with her life in any way possible, even if it's intentionally or unintentionally, I won't care. I will make sure she never talks to you again in your life. Everyone deserves second chance but the third chance is just too much to ask for," she said looking at Nihal. I'm so proud of this young lady.
When the both of them wanted to say something Tarun peeped inside, "You're making our guests wait for just too long," he says. That's her cue.A/N Thanks for all the reads votes and comments!!
