The horizon is in a shades of violet to red when we had finally arrived in Mussorie. It's something like a jungle or maybe a camp since I see a few cabins. "What is this," I asked while yawning. Lack of sleep I tell you.
"Perfect place to complete my job," said Myra who was ready with her camera in her hand. "There are a few birds which are seen only at such an hour in this area. I am going to find them and capture them. Of course, in my camera."
"So, we are here so that you can collect pictures to submit to your boss," Zara asked.
"No! It's a 2 in one spot. Just like Bangalore. Ladies, I welcome you to Mussorie Adventure Park, also house to the highest zip line in India," she says.
"Not bad.. I like this place," Vicky says. "We are here for two days aren't we?"
"Yes," I said.
"And there are other sports too which we can do or just roam around.. This place looks interesting to explore," Myra adds.
"Sounds cool.. Plus it's perfect for writing," Vicky says and carries her bag.
"Oh and it has free wi-fi," Myra says.
"Oh, it's just perfect," I say while they giggle.
"Even I'm gonna get some work done in the afternoon. I don't wanna get tanned in the sun so when the sun's gone we can roam again," Zara tells.
"Sure thing," I say. Who loves to get tanned? Well, Myra and Vicky and even I don't mind. We dont really get tanned. We turn red and by night we return to normal. But Zara, she has got some serious tanning issues. And if her mother finds her tanned I'm sure she is going to hear a lecture which she has probably heard a thousand times.
A weird bird sound comes and that's Myra's cue to disappear. We head towards the cabin with our stuff managing to carry Myra's as well. It's a nice place. Pretty peaceful. But for me, peaceful doesn't work. I'm too restless for peaceful. So I guess fun will start once something adventurous comes up.
"What is the name of this place?" I asked. At a big bungalow like thing we read 'Cloud Ends Resort', nice. We walked in to break the eerie silence. I guess even the owner is asleep. Well, im proven wrong when a man in his, maybe, 50's shows up in a track suit, fresh beads of sweat dropping from his head.
"Hello girls, how can I help you," he asks politely while going behind the reception desk.
"I thought we would have to wait here for a while since people here would be asleep."
"Asleep. At 5? Sleeping is for oldies," he chuckled. This man considers sleeping at 5 am for oldies then maybe I'm living in my nineties.
"Then, you are?" Zara giggles.
"Oh, I am 68 and young," he answers.
"You've got to be kidding me," I snapped at his answer. Vicky hit me on my hand for my lack of manners.
"It might be hard to digest but nature and good exercise keeps you fit and gives you a long life," he laughed.
"Well, I seriously don't think I would have guessed it correct if you had asked me," Vicky manages to say with a smile. I don't buy it. He just does not look like 68! The old man is messing up with us. And if he is not then maybe I'll have to try nature and exercise to remain beautiful.
"So back to my first question, how can I help you girls?" he asked once again.
"We have a reservation under the name Myra," Zara tells.
"And who is Myra of you all," he enquires.
"Well, Myra heard some bird chirping and she said some weird name, which I don't remember, so she went off to find him and click his pictures," I told him.
"Oh! Nature lover," he raised his brows.
"Yeah but more of a bird lover," Zara told.
"A bird lover? There's either a nature lover or a not.." he said going through his register. Though he is too chatty, I like this man. He does not stare at us like other men in other hotels did. He is having a nice conversation with us. He is involved with his guests, is what I would say. Pretty cool.. old man... I never thought I'd ever say that.
"Oh, no, its a comepletely different type but not-so-different. And I suppose it is led by Myra, whom we also nicknamed as Birdy and other friend of ours called Vivan," Zara told him.
Vivan.. he just doesn't cease to exist in my life. This is not fair. I know she didnt mean my Vivan. She meant Myra's Vivan. Wait I, I did not say 'My Vivan'. Ugh! I'm such a fool. But calling him as 'My Vivan' feels so great. I wish I could actually say that. My mind drifts off to the night in Chattisgarh when we had called Aarav and Birdy took the phone. She talked about Vicky being too appealed by the idea of running away with him than getting married to some other man on her wedding day in the future. I'm not sure if Vicky would actually do that but if I will be there I'll make sure she does. And a marriage should have some reason to be remembered for, right? And imagine the bride running away for the guy she truly loves. That would be so cool. But I pity that guy who will be left all alone. It wont be his fault right? Jesus Christ! Why the hell am I even thinking about it! Well, a single name can work wonders in your head.
"Well, I'll have to know about this kind then," he smiled looking at us. "So I got the registration. Go straight from the back door and take a left. The second one is yours. Meals here are served at a particular time that is from 1 to 3 pm lunch, 8 to 10 pm dinner. Breakfast from eight am to 9 am and snacks from four thirty to six pm. Tea, coffee and juice boxes are available anytime of the day. Hope this schedule wont be a problem."
"Not at all," Vicky said. "By the way, how did you get the idea of building this place? Like, it's just to awesome."
"I haven't built it and neither has my father. This place has a history."
"A history?" Vicky's eyes beamed with curiosity.
"Yeah.. I have promised cabin 4 lads and cabin 5 girlies that I will tell them the origins at lunch. Why dont you join us then?"
"For sure," she said.
