Chapter 162: The Invasion

[3rd POV]

"Shou-Should we do something to help?" Jean asked, gasping as she watched the news headline.

Gwen on the other hand, was using her sight to watch from afar, a hum escaping her lips. Thoughts echoing through her head, important thoughts.

'Looks like this is one of those MCU influences I was expecting. An invasion of New York, but it seems the Avengers are already a team, but are only in their infancy, this will catapult them, and looks like it'll make them jump to the levels of their comic counterpart quickly' Gwen thought with interest, as she gazed into the past, and found that they had originally been brought together to fight HYDRA in the past.

Gwen stopped when she caught sight of something, no, someone else. 'That-' Gwen stopped her thoughts, as she saw the appearance of the Trickster God himself, Loki. But it wasn't him that really got her attention, but the appearance of a Scepter that glowed in his hands, one that she recognized clearly.

'...The Mind Stone' Gwen thought, as she struggled not to cackle in excitement at the sight of the last stone she needed to have all 6 together. And if what she could see was right, then it was more in line with its comic counterpart, if controlling the minds of New Yorkers was any indicator.

By gaining the last stone, she could then sever it's bond from this universe, binding it to herself, and officially gaining all six infinity stones, which would not only give her a lot of power, massively increased psychic power, but it would also mesh with the rest of the stones, boosting them as well. That, and she would likely gain a ton of tickets as well.

'Grabbing that thing will be the hard part, with SHIELD naturally going to be clambering to get their hands on it. But...I suppose my "Shadow" can just take it, can't it? Afterall, that's not me' Gwen thought with a small inward grin, happy with this, as it would finally get her the last of the six infinity stones.

'If he's here with that thing, then that means that the Mad Titan will be appearing sooner or later. Which is...a little concerning considering this world is based more around it's comic counterparts, but I believe It'll be fine, so long as he doesn't get any of the more...dangerous infinity stones' Gwen thought, knowing the only infinity stone that was a genuine threat to her, was the Soul Stone, and even that wouldn't work too well, considering she herself, had the stone within her, guarding her very soul.

'The Avengers won't be a problem, considering they're only made up of the recently returned Captain, Black Widow, Tony, Hawkeye, Captain Marvel, and the Hulk. Thor will probably make his appearance soon thought' Gwen thought, with only the Hulk being a problem in that group, but with her powers, that "Problem" was minimal to her.

'Doesn't look like the Space Stone is involved this time which is too bad, but the Mind Stone is more than enough for me for now' Gwen thought, watching the video for a few more moments before getting to her feet and walking off.

She could see that Spiderman, Daredevil, and several other street level heroes were on the move, ready to save the New Yorkers caught in the crossfire, while SHIELD was deploying the Avengers, for their first public appearance in a while. Besides the fight with HYDRA, and some other minor villains of note, they hadn't done much for the world, not yet.

"Are you going to go and help them?" Jean's voice echoed behind her, as Gwen turned, before smiling.

"I am, why?" Gwen asked, only to blink as more people rounded the corners.

"We believe it best that we aid the innocents, and...it is time that we stop hiding so much" Xavier said, as he smiled, Gwen looking between them all before letting out a chuckle.
