[3rd POV]

Walking through the streets of the Southern Water tribe, Gwen and the girls were looking around, Gwen with a small smile, liking the atmosphere, while the girls had looks of slight awe at the beauty of the place, with even Raven having a small excited gleam in her eyes.

"It's a shame the southerners have abandoned all connections to the spirits, even during the most hallowed times" Unalaq said, as he walked through the streets in front of them.

"I've always loved the glacier spirits festival. It's fun" Korra replied.

"It's beautiful here, too" Gwen added, as she looked over the games and foods that she was definitely going to try with the girls. She also noticed some that looked like they could be interesting to make too.

'Gonna have to ask them about their recipes for some of those' Gwen noted, as she noticed the skill at which many of the dishes were made. Some of them using techniques and ingredients she hadn't really thought of before.

Korra smiled at what Gwen said, and was about to reply, only for Unalaq to cut them off, ruining the mood "This festival used to be a solemn time of fasting and meditation. Now it's just a chance to watch some rube try to stick an entire arctic hen in his mouth" Unalaq said, causing the group to turn, deadpanning at the sight of Bolin doing exactly that.

"Wha-What? It's good!" Bolin said muffled as he had an entire arctic hen in his mouth, or most of it at elast.

"No offense Unalaq, but what's to say that they don't also practice that? This could just be something they do for the tourists visit, while the rest of the tribe practices the fasting later on" Gwen said, causing Tonraq to crack a small smile.

"She is right about that, as while traditions change, some of us still practice them. Those that do are treated with the respect they deserve for continuing them. And it's not the end of the world if they do change" Tonraq said, as it was true. While a good bit of them had no longer followed those traditions, there was still a good majority of the tribe that did follow them, and there was no reason to stop them.

"Tell that to the sailors who are being attacked by angry spirits in Southern Waters. Some traditions have purpose" Unalaq said, staring his brother down.

"Wait, spirits are attacking ships?" Korra asked, having not known about this, a frown on her face as she looked to her uncle.

"I'm surprised the Avatar doesn't know about that. Apparently you haven't been given all the information you need. It would be my honor to instruct you in the spiritual ways of the Water Tribe" Unalaq said, looking at his niece who looked to be considering the idea.

"I wouldn't mind learning about fighting spirits. Air bending is getting...kinda boring" Korra said, giving Tenzin a look, as the man's teaching methods had...not been working as of recent. Gwen had been doing her best to help the man, but he was...stubborn as hell, and decided to follow his own methods again. Why? Hell if she knows.

"Tenzin is Korra's instructor in Airbending. Just as Gwen is her instructor in every other area that matters. They can give her all the training she needs" Tonraq replied. He was technically right, even if he didn't know it.

While they were talking, Gwen ended up finally making use of her mind reading, and yoinked all of Unalaq's knowledge in regards to spirits, as it was one of the few areas she was a bit lacking in, in regards to the Avatar Universe. With that came his knowledge on how to purify dark ones, and return them back to the spirit realm. She planned on using this little power much more in the next world, and even a bit in the current one.

"So you've said" Unalaq said, giving Gwen a glance. She was...impressive, in his eyes. He knew of her teachings, and this statement surprisingly wasn't directed towards her, but Tenzin. As even he understood that Gwen was an incredibly proficient teacher.
