Chapter 163: New York

[3rd POV]

As those words echoed from Gwen's mouth, members of the team began to leap from the Blackbird.

First was Logan, who dove down at immense speeds, his adamantium skeleton weighing him down, causing him to fall to the ground faster than he normally would have, had he not had it. Before he could hit the ground, likely turning into a splatter of blood, his claws grew from his knuckles, as he stabbed them into the side of the nearest building, slowly skidding to a halt, as he leapt from his spot, landing onto the ground with a soft crackling sound.

The second was Iceman, who jumped from the ship, only for ice to form from his hands, as he created an ice pathway, skating down it slowly towards the ground, and freezing nearby chitauri that were part of the invasion force. Shattering them into bloodied messes, as he stopped on the ground, skidding slightly.

The next was Cyclops, who flew towards the ground, before a crimson red beam of energy flowed from his visor, using the energy to slow himself to a halt, and landing on the ground with no damage taken, but not before looking up and lasering any stray chitauri that Bobby didn't freeze.

After that was Jean, who slowly floated down to the ground, her uniform on as she lifted her hand, and extended her reach, lifting several forms of rubble, and launching them through the skies, ripping through the chitauri akin to a hot knife through butter.

Then came Storm, as the clouds above gathered, and the sound of thunder and lightning filled the skies above, lightning slamming down against all chitauri she could see, obliterating them through pure power, as her eyes glowed a color akin to lightning, and she stepped to the ground.

The final two were Beast and Xavier, who in the case of Beast, launched against the buildings, skidding down them, and crushing the skulls of the chitauri he ran into, before leaping to the ground, dusting himself off. While Xavier simply floated to the ground, his telepathy forced the chitauri to shoot one another, killing over a dozen of them in the nearby buildings.

Watching as they all landed besides her, Gwen inwardly grinned in excitement, as it reminded her of those moments in the old X-Men Cartoons she would watch when she was way younger.

Turning to them, she began to speak.

"Alright, since we're all here, I guess it's time to talk plans" Gwen began, as she stopped and glanced to the side, before flicking her wrist as a sharp metal fragment flew, decapitating the body of a chitauri preparing to attack them.

"The biggest concern right now is the people in the city. I think it'd be best if we have Xavier, Logan, and Beast focus on saving those on the ground in the immediate area. While Bobby and Jean will focus on saving those that are high up in buildings" Gwen said, as they all nodded, before continuing.

"Those big ship looking things you guys saw while we were coming here? Those are also chitauri, they're sentient creatures, and the ones that'll be causing the most damage. So Ororo, I want you to take them down with your lightning, and Scott, you take them down from the ground with your eyes" Gwen said, as the two nodded.

"I'll be focusing on stopping the man who had caused this all in the first place, the Trickster God, Loki" Gwen said, as they looked at her in surprise.

"As in Loki from Norse Mythology? It's real!?" Hank asked in surprise.

"Hank, we are in a world where people can fly, shoot lasers from their eyes, control the weather, and all sorts of abilities. Do you really think that magic and God's are all that surprising? Where do you think I get some of my power from?" Gwen replied with an amused smirk.

While they were talking, she had her shadows working around the clock, once she realized that this wasn't the only area of the world being invaded, it was just the largest invasion force. There was also invasions in: London, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Dubai, Delhi, Mexico City, Istanbul, Los Angeles, and Seattle.
