Chapter 89: After the Darkseid War III

[3rd POV]

At those words, the group of four giggled as they heard the sounds of shuffling behind the door, as the team stumbled in.

"Gwen, I'm glad you are okay" Kaldur said with an awkward cough, as Gwen gave the teen a small smile.

"Thanks, Kaldur. Is Atlantis okay after all of this?" Gwen asked, as she hadn't sent her legion there, primarily because she trusted in their defenses and military to let them deal with it themselves, had any parademons invaded it in the first place.

"Certainly, compared to the surface world, we have not even a tenth of the damages" Kaldur replied. The parademons had only come in small amounts towards Atlantis, and even then, they were killed before they could advance too far into Atlantis. With the advanced technology Atlantis held, they were much better off than just about any other place on the planet.

"Good, I was hoping that'd be the case" Gwen responded, happy that Atlantis hadn't underwent too many damages in comparison to the rest of the world.

"Are you okay?" Dick asked, as he walked towards his sister, who smiled.

"Yep! I'm all good, I guess absorbing Darkseid's power was a bit straining on me, but I'm all good now, better than ever actually" Gwen replied, causing her brother to sigh.

"Why'd you even do that in the first place? And since when could you absorb other people and their powers?" Wally asked, as he stood besides Dick.

"It was something I got rather recently. And I absorbed him because if I didn't, he would have come back eventually, and I don't exactly trust the government to use his body for anything good" Gwen responded, causing Wally to nod, finding the answer to make a lot of sense. The government wasn't exactly known for being trustworthy, and with a body of a being like Darkseid, who knows what they'd do with it, and what they'd attempt to create.

"And you know the League is about to question you, right? Captain Atom is flipping out about it" Zatanna said, causing Gwen to snort.

"When is he not flipping out? That man has a stick up his ass almost as big as his ego, so him flipping out is not even remotely surprising" Gwen replied with an eye roll, not even remotely surprised, before she flipped her legs over the edge of the bed, and got to her feet, while sighing as her clothes changed into something a bit more comfortable.

"Should you be walking?" Rocket asked on the side with a worried frown.

"Hmm? Oh yeah I'm fine. My body can't feel fatigue or weakness like that, I'm immune to that sort of stuff, have been for a while" Gwen replied, knowing that Rocket was still pretty unfamiliar with her abilities.

Rocket just sighed at the response, not even surprised anymore.

"I'm assuming the League wants me to go to the meeting room?" Gwen asked, causing the team to all glance at one another and nod.

"Yeah, they're a bit on edge though, so expect an argument" Conner said, causing Gwen to chuckle.

"There's always an argument when Captain Atom and Politics are involved" Gwen responded, before walking to the door and turning to the team.

"Wish me luck, once I'm done with the talk, let's hang out, yeah? I've missed you guys" Gwen said, causing the team to smile and nod, before Gwen walked out of the room.

'This is about to be incredibly annoying'

[League meeting room]

Sitting at her seat in the League meeting room, Gwen glanced around the table. She saw the uncertain look of Superman, the supportive ones from Diana, Aquaman, and a couple of others, and she felt the glare from Captain Atom and a lesser one from Hawkman. She ignored the latter two, of course.
