CHAPTER NINE - MY DRUTHERS
They pulled up to the nursing home an hour after dropping Pope off.
"So, how'd it go?" John B asked as Pope climbed into the back, shutting the sliding door with a sigh.
"Shit just got way more personal" Pope said seriously.
"I can't believe you're related to Denmark Tanny" John B smiled after they got back to Leon's. They were now sat in the massive backyard "Are we in the presence of a royal?"
JJ gasped nearly spilling the corona he had in his hand "A king? We shall crown him. All hail Lord of Tannyhill"
"We're not worthy" All the teens bowed down to Pope.
"Everybody relax" Pope was feeling quite stressed himself "Can we relax, please?"
"Hey, Pope, you okay?" Eleanor asked the boy from where she was sat on John B's lap with a cigarette in her hand.
"I just keep thinking about the letter, the one that Limbrey sent. It had the wheat symbol on it. That must mean it has something to do with the Royal Merchant"
Brian nodded "Something ain't right"
"But if we find that cross, we can split it like we were gonna split the gold" Pope smiled.
"Yeah, I'm happy with that" JJ agreed.
"And live happily ever after?"
Eleanor soon stood up from JB's lap with Brian close by her side as Limbrey walked over with Redfield beside her.
"You assaulted my father" Pope spat, voice filled with anger.
"Oh, I didn't assault anybody" Limbrey said with a small, calculated smile. Her southern drawl was laced with mock innocence "That's a wild accusation. My employee is professional. Loyal"
"He can identify the psycho from a mile away" Kie snapped.
Limbrey sighed "That's absurd. Look, we can keep going in circles, but I want the key. That's the only thing that matters here"
Suddenly, Renfield moves shoving Pope roughly against one of the wooden beams on the outside patio.
Limbrey continued "And I won't stop until I have it. I don't have a choice, which means you don't either"
"Touch him again, and I'll make sure you leave here in pieces" Brian made Redfield pause as Eleanor pulled out a key from her back pocket and held it up.
"This is what you're after?" She asked, a smirk on her face.
Limbrey's eyes widened just slightly "Yes. Yes, it is"
Eleanor glanced toward the wooded edge of the property "You see that creek over there? It runs straight into the channel, your odds of finding it again? Pretty much zero"
