PART FOUR
Cracked Skull

" y/n's point of view "

HARRY ENDED UP in the Hospital Wing himself after the next Quidditch match of the season with a cracked skull after a Bludger to the head.

After Madam Pomfrey fixed up Harry's head, I bandaged it up for him. He was still unconscious and in the bed beside Ron's.

Ginny had visited when Harry was knocked out, and she, Ron and I had a bit of a chat.

Then, due to the emptiness of the Hospital Wing, I pulled up a chair between the two boys' beds.

"Nice of you to drop in." Ron said with a grin when Harry woke up.

"What happened?" Harry groaned, putting a hand to his bandaged head as he sat up.

I jumped to my feet as Madam Pomfrey came bustling over.

"Cracked skull." I answered as Madam Pomfrey pushed Harry down against his pillows.

"Nothing to worry about." Madam Pomfrey told him. "I mended it at once, but I'm keeping you in overnight. You shouldn't overexert yourself for a few hours."

"I don't want to stay here overnight." Harry snapped angrily. He sat up and kicked off his covers. "I want to find McLaggen and kill him."

"I'm afraid that would come under the heading of 'overexertion'." Madam Pomfrey forced him down on the bed and pointed her wand at him. "You will stay here until I discharge you, Potter, or I shall call the Headmaster."

Then she started heading back to her office.

"Y/N, keep an eye on him."

"Yes, ma'am." I said, a smile growing on my face as Harry glared at me.

"D'you know how much we lost by?" He then asked Ron through clenched teeth.

"Well, yeah, I do." Ron said, shooting me a side glance. "Final score was three hundred and twenty to sixty."

"Brilliant. Really brilliant! When I get hold of McLaggen-" Harry's tone was enough for me to decide Ron could deal with him at the moment and I put my chair away and went back to tidying the Hospital Wing.

MONDAY MORNING BOTH Harry and Ron were discharged from the Hospital Wing and were back to their usual routines, and it seemed like Hermione was done with ignoring Ron after he was poisoned.

Luna had come looking for Harry not too long after they had left just before breakfast.

When I myself started heading down to the Great Hall for breakfast a familiar shape in the corner of the corridor, hidden behind an old statue and looking away from me, caught my eye.

"Kreacher!" I hissed and the elf turned around, appearing at my feet at once.

"Yes, Mistress?" He bowed and I looked around the empty corridor.

"What are you doing here in the castle?" I asked him as Kreacher gave me a death-glare. It was nothing to how he looked at Harry, though.

"Master Potter has forbidden Kreacher from telling anyone what he is doing."

I narrowed my eyes at the elf. "Well, I'm ordering you to tell me, and only me."

"Master has ordered Kreacher to follow the Malfoy boy, Mistress." Kreacher said and I raised my eyebrows in surprise, my mouth falling open.

"Oh?" I paused. "Um... May I ask why?"

"Master did not tell Kreacher, Mistress. Master has just asked Kreacher to spy on the Malfoy boy and report back to him."

"I see." I stared down at the elf and his glare. "Well, back to your spying then, Kreacher."

"Yes, Mistress." Kreacher bowed once again and disappeared with the snap of his fingers.

Then continued my walk and went down to breakfast, occasionally glancing at Harry from my seat, wondering what he was up to and why he had my House Elf involved.

BY THE TIME May rolled around I was just dying to go home.

I hadn't seen Fred since the beginning of April when, despite it being the Hospital Wing's busiest day of the year, Madam Pomfrey gave me the first of the month off.

I had spent the day with the twins for their birthday and that night we went out for dinner with our friends, which was the first time I had seen some of them, like Lewis, Oliver and Alicia, in months.

But in May it felt like the year was just dragging on and summer couldn't come any slower.

I was sitting in my chair, holding my Quaffle charm from my necklace in my hand, playing a short 'I miss you' recording from Fred over and over.

I had told him I missed him too, but hadn't had a response.

Then Snape brought Draco Malfoy into the Hospital Wing.

Draco's shirt was bloody, and his arms and chest were littered in cuts that it looked like Snape had begun to fix.

Madam Pomfrey was in her office, and Snape went to talk to her as I brought Draco over to a bed and lied him down.

He was whimpering and groaning in pain, and I pulled out my wand, pointing it toward the shelf of different jars and bottles.

"Accio dittany." I said and a small bottle with a dropper flew into my hand.

Madam Pomfrey was at my side within seconds and Snape left the Hospital Wing.

Once the dittany had been applied to his wounds, Draco had stopped whimpering was now lying in the bed, sniffling occasionally.

I just wanted the year to be over.
