PART FIVE
The Box

IF IT WEREN'T for literally everything that was going on in the wizarding world, the first few months of marriage would've been amazing.
Due to the lack of real news, The Quibbler being one of the only reliable sources nowadays, Lee decided to take it into his own hands.
He decided to start up a pirate radio program he named Potterwatch. It would be for the rebels, a way to find out news about the war, the Death Eaters, missing people, dead people...
It needed a password to get in, usually something related to the Order, in order to keep unwanted listeners away.
He also had guests, like Remus or Kingsley, but they always used codenames.
And that was why I was lying in Lee and Oliver's living room on Christmas Eve. Hoping for a cheerier episode over Christmas, Lee brought the twins onto the show, and I waited on the couch, listening as the boys talked at the kitchen table.
"And alright, listeners, this marks the end of another Potterwatch broadcast." Lee, under his codename 'River', spoke. "We here at Potterwatch hope you all do your best to enjoy the holidays, despite how dark and grim these times are. Stay safe, take care of each other. The next password will be 'Padfoot'. Merry Christmas, all, we'll get back to you after the holidays."
There was a pause of silence, and I looked over to Oliver, who was sitting on the second sofa in the room - due to the fact I was lying down and taking up the entire first one.
Then there was a thud and I groaned as Fred was now lying on top of me.
"Ugh, you're squashing me." I groaned as Lee and George also came walking over from the kitchen table to sit on the couches. "Get off."
I pushed Fred's chest and with a huff, he got up and sat at the other end of the sofa, lifting my legs to rest on his lap.
"Are you guys going to Angie's for lunch tomorrow?" George asked Lee and Oliver.
"We should be." Oliver said.
"Is 'Licia going?" Lee asked, looking around the group.
"No idea. She's been a mess since Lewis disappeared." I said. "And I don't blame her at all. I'd probably go insane if something happened to this one."
I pointed my thumb towards Fred as I sat up on the sofa properly.
"So they were-slash-are together?" George asked.
"I mean, I assume so. They never said it, but..."
"They did make it fairly obvious." Lee said. "I mean I was suspicious Seventh year, but the last year has really confirmed it for me."
"Have you heard anything about where he could be?" I asked Lee.
"There's been rumors he's been with Ted Tonks and Dean Thomas, but I have no idea if that's still true, or if it ever was."
Silence fell over the group, something that had become more common in the last year than it had been at any point before that.
"We better head off then, hey?" Fred said, starting to stand up, and George nodded in agreement. And after some short goodbyes and 'see you tomorrow's, we apparated out of the building.

THE NEXT MORNING was spent by me in the kitchen with Angelina helping her prepare Christmas lunch.
After waking up, before coming to Angie's house, Fred, George and I had opened our Christmas gifts at the Burrow, where we had been staying since going into hiding.
Most of the gifts were normal, books and clothes, new Weasley jumpers, sweets, etc. But one of my gifts was a little larger than the others, and when I unwrapped it a grin grew on my face.
There was no note, no card or indicator of any kind to say who it was from, but I knew.
It was just a box. The same box Lewis and I had been sending back and forth over the last few years, and that told me that - wherever he was - he was safe, or, at least, alive.
It was also strange to have received a gift from Kreacher. A real gift, not maggots. It was a small box of cookies he had made, and I honestly questioned whether or not they were poisoned.
These did come with a note.
To Mistress,
Merry Christmas.
From, Kreacher.
"Well, that's much nicer than last year." Fred said as he took a bite out of one of the cookies. "They don't taste poisoned."
"Of course they wouldn't." I said, reading over the small card again. "He could've just had spit in them or something."
Fred scrunched his face in disgust, but still ate the rest of the cookie while I wondered what could've given Kreacher this sudden change in heart.
"Well, if he did, Kreacher's spit tastes delicious." George said, also eating a cookie.
"Oi, piss off, you two." I swatted Fred's hand away as he reached for another. "These are mine."
When the rest of our friends arrived at Angelina's, including Alicia, I told them about Lewis's box, and as stupid as it might've sounded, they all sounded extremely relieved because of this box. Alicia had even begun to tear up a little, which she quickly wiped away and put on a brave face again.
So, as we all ate our Christmas lunch, George raised his glass as a toast for Lewis, and we all hoped this war would be over soon.
We didn't know we would only have to wait a few months.
