PART FIVE
The Wedding

" y/n's point of view "

IN THE MIDDLE of September I stood upstairs in the Burrow with Remus and Tonks, looking in the mirror in Ginny's room at my dress.

"Are you sure you want me to do it? I'm sure Arthur would -" Remus was saying and I turned to look at him with a glare.

"You're not backing out of this, Moony." I told him, going back to checking my hair and makeup in the mirror. "You're the only person I would want to do this."

"What if Sirius were still here?"

"Well, he's not." I said bluntly, facing Remus again. "And even then... Look, it's final. You're walking me down that aisle and I'm not letting you back out of it."

"I know, I know." Remus looked to Tonks. "Y/N, there's something else we'd like to talk to you about."

"What?"

"When the baby's born," Tonks started, seeming much happier about it than Remus. "We'd like you to be its godmother."

"Seriously?" I asked, looking between them, and Tonks nodded. "Of course! Of course I will."

Tonks stood up and hugged me. Then she looked me up and down with a frown.

"Oh, you look stunning." She started to tear up, mostly due to her pregnancy hormones.

"Thank you, Tonks."

There was a knock at the door and I turned my head as Molly entered the room.

"Hi, Y/N. Are you ready?" She asked and I looked to Remus and Tonks before nodding.

Tonks walked to the door and Molly gave me a warm smile.

"You look beautiful, dear."

"Thank you, Molly." I replied and as she left the room with Tonks, I could hear her getting emotional about how another one of her 'baby boys' was getting married. "Come on, Moony."

Remus stood up and a sad smile grew on his face.

"If only your parents were here to see this." Remus said, looking down at me as he took my arm in his own. "They'd be so proud."

"What about you?" I asked him. "Are you proud?"

"Of you? I always am." He told me and we walked out of Ginny's bedroom and into the hall.

"Then that's all I need." I said as we headed down the stairs.

And moments later Remus and I were walking down the aisle that began at the Weasleys' front gate and went out into the paddock where the marquee for Bill and Fleur's wedding had been.

Our wedding was much smaller. Molly and Arthur were there, as well as Bill, Fleur, Remus, Tonks, Tonks's mother Andromeda, Lee, Oliver, Angelina, Alicia and, of course, George.

Ginny and a few other friends were at school, and the rest of them were nowhere to be found, which I supposed was a good thing.

But it didn't matter to me once I saw Fred standing at the end of the aisle. He was all that mattered.

My best friend, the love of my life. The man who still gave me butterflies after being together for four whole years.

George was standing beside Fred, grinning wildly as he looked to his twin, who looked dumbstruck.

I met Fred's eyes, and he blinked a few times before swallowing and a smile pulled on his lips as I grew nearer.

I felt Remus's grip on my arm loosen and I turned my head to look to him. He smiled, a few tears just glistening in the corners of his eyes as he nodded for me to take the last few steps towards Fred.

"I love you." He whispered to me.

"I love you, too." I whispered back and I let go of his arm, turning forwards again and walking ahead to stand across from the man who would soon be my husband. "Hi."

"Hi." Fred replied, his voice a breathy chuckle as his eyes flitted over my face and down my body before settling staring into my own.

I thought back to my first day on the Hogwarts Express, how I had bumped into him on Platform 9 and 3/4, unaware of what our lives would lead to. To how connected we would become, how much I would love him, first platonically, then romantically.

Fred Weasley was, by far, the most important person to me in my entire life and I loved nobody more. I had never had any kind of connection like the one I had with him.

And when it came to the vows, that's what I said. I told him how strongly I loved him, and cared for him. And he said the same things back, although also mentioning the painful experience that was the total obliviousness between us in our fifth year.

And as we said 'I do', I could hear Molly sobbing from her seat in the audience, and I could see George snickering about it over Fred's shoulder.

And when we kissed for the first time as husband and wife, I got this feeling of total happiness I hadn't felt in quite a while. I felt safe and like nothing bad was going to happen anytime soon.

Fred's arms were wrapped around my back and I held onto his neck for dear life as he dipped me down, smiling into my lips as the small number of guests all clapped.

As we stood up straight again and started to pull away from each other, I leaned in closer again, my forehead touching his and he smiled at me.

"I love you, Freddie."

"And I'll love you forever, Y/N." Fred said back. I rolled my eyes as I took his hand in mine.

"You always have to one-up me, don't you?" I asked as we walked back down the aisle together.

"Course I do, love." He replied. "It's in my nature."
