PART FIVE
Harry's Birthday

AT THE END of July, the Burrow was hosting a birthday dinner for Harry the night before Bill and Fleur's wedding.

Fleur's parents and little sister had arrived a few days earlier, and tonight Charlie was supposed to be arriving from Romania.

I was in the kitchen, helping Molly as she prepared Harry's birthday cake for that night, when the front door opened and the second Weasley son walked through the door.

"Oh, Charlie!" Molly quickly hurried over to her son and engulfed him in a hug. Charlie stumbled slightly, but still hugged his mother back. "Look at your hair... We're going to have to chop it for the wedding tomorrow."

Charlie's mouth fell open as his mother let go of him, and started forcing him into a chair at the kitchen table

"No, mum." He protested, pulling away as Harry, Ron and Fred came down into the kitchen.

"No, you, Charlie." Molly said.

"What's going on, Mum?" Fred asked, his hands moving to my hips.

"Charlie's getting a proper haircut." She announced to the room and Ron chuckled.

"Mum, no." Charlie started standing up and Molly pointed her wand at him again.

"Sit down, Charlie."

After watching Charlie's haircut, the man being in anguish as it happened, I helped set up the garden for Harry's birthday dinner.

Fred and George bewitched purple lanterns with number 17s on them to float above the tables set up in the garden and above the guests.

As they did that, I stared at the large gaping dark hole in the side of George's head where his ear had been. The wound was clean, and I had fixed it up to the best of my ability, but there was only so much I could do, despite my Healer training.

Hermione decorated the trees and bushes with purple and gold streamers, and I smiled at the look on Ron's face as he watched her.

"Nice." Ron complimented Hermione as she turned the leaves on the crab-apple tree to gold. "You've really got an eye for that sort of thing."

"Thank you, Ron!" Hermione said, looking both pleased and a little confused.

"Out of the way, out of the way!" Molly called out as she came out into the garden with Harry's golden snitch birthday cake, which she was lifting into the air with her wand rather than her hands.

"That looks amazing, Mrs Weasley." Harry said as Molly laid the cake on the table.

"Oh, it's nothing, dear." Molly told him and Charlie came and sat down by Fred and I at one of the tables.

"So, it's been a while, hey?" He said to us. "Three years?"

"Thereabouts." I nodded and Charlie looked between Fred and I.
