Derek and Grace are lying in bed together.

"What are you starting with?" Grace asked

"Laminectomy."

"Are you doing it open or endoscopically? " Grace asked

"You know what? I'm not gonna do this. "

"What? "

"Talk over neuro as if we don't have issues after Meredith and what she did" he said

"I know. " Grace said

"Yeah, well, I'm not gonna do this whole thing where you're sad about every case that I have. " Derek said

" I'm not sad. I'm trying to start a conversation. Your my husband and I am trying to talk to you"

"Okay, well ... make conversation about something else. I gotta go." He said as He leaves the room and Grace sighs.

"Your impossible do you know that" Grace said as Sophie start to stir as Grace sat up and picked her out of the crib and held her close

Derek watches his dream house, which is more and more looking like a real house. He starts working on the deck. He knew how things were tense with him and Grace and he knew how he wanted to move past it

Alex arrives in Derek's OR

"You started? I'm supposed to be lead surgeon on this case." Alex said

"You forfeited the right to take lead by showing up 20 minutes late. Dr. Warren, when you were a fifth year, were you late to surgery?" Derej said

"Are you kidding? "

"He's a professional. "

"And respectful of my O.R. staff. "

"Of your " derek said

"Definitely my attending. Dr. Grey was never late. " ben said

"No. She was many things, but late was not one of them. " derek said as he thought over Grace knowing they weren't working together at the moment

The nurses are getting Alex ready.

" See Karev here is just trying to sock away as much non-peds hours as possible. "

"Oh. Slummin' it in neuro, huh? "

" I'm sorry. I had a ... an appointment with Mayfield in 22. It went a little long. " alex said

Ben and Derek look at each other.

" We didn't... "

"Oh, well, in that case... " derek said

" We didn't realize ... "

"Why don't you come in and finish up, then? " derek said
