After he returned to the kitchen, Wei WuXian and Lan SiZhui fetched two buckets of water from the well in the backyard, and were currently cleaning the kitchen. Jin Ling demanded, “What are you doing?”

Lan SiZhui wiped around in diligence, “As you can see, we are cleaning the kitchen hearth.”

Jin Ling, “What’s the use of cleaning the hearth? We’re not making food or anything.”

Wei WuXian, “Who told you so? We are making food. You can sweep the dust. Get rid of all the cobwebs up there.”

Wen Qing and Jiang Cheng pupil dilated in disbelief. They darted their eyes from screen to wei wuxian then juniors and then again screen— trying to understand what they saw and heard was really true —wei wuxian and cooking ??

"I am surprised you all are alive after eating food cooked by him," Said jiang cheng with pure astonishment like he saw some kind of miracle— as flashes from the past stormed his mind—Wei WuXian’s first attempt at cooking had ended with the entire kitchen going up in flames. And even after several more attempts, the only thing he ever managed to “cook” was food so burnt and toxic that even his corpses might have refused to eat it or smash the bowl on Wei wuxian's face.

Wei wuxian scoffed off defensively, " aihya, Jiang Cheng, stop dragging my reputation through the mud.... I got something new in my sleeve, in future and you can see the results.." wei wuxian pointed to the juniors, " Their lives got saved because of my food and they are actually here to thank me." Wei wuxian puffed his chest proudly.

Wen Qing leaned closer and muttered under her breath, "Or maybe they’re just lucky to be alive."

JingYi rolled his eyes at Wei WuXian’s exaggerated pride, “No, we’re not here to thank you. We’re here to ban you—officially. The Yiling Patriarch is now banned from every kitchen.

Pft—HAHAHA " Many giggled at JingYi's answer.

Even the seniors couldn’t suppress their chuckles. Jin ZiXun scoffed with venom, “He shouldn’t just be banned from the kitchen—ban him from the whole cultivation world.”

Wei WuXian clutched his chest dramatically. “Lan Zhan! Did you hear that? He’s staining my noble reputation. Punish this disrespectful child!

Lan WangJi gave him a brief glance, then turned back to the screen, deadpan, “Wei Ying… need not to cook.”

Wei WuXian blinked in disbelief. “What?! Whose side are you on?!

The room erupted with laughter.

Lan WangJi’s eyes didn’t leave the screen, lost in a memory—Wen Qing furiously scolding Wei WuXian, and poor baby A-Yuan bawled for hours after one unfortunate bite of food cooked by Wei wuxian.

Wei WuXian looked utterly betrayed,

Lan SiZhui chuckled under his breath, JingYi practically collapsed laughing.

Jiang Yanli sat quietly amid the cheerful banter, her gaze fixated on Wei Wuxian. There was a tenderness in her eyes—gentle, aching, full of memories.

She remembered the days when Wei Wuxian would run to her with scraped knees or bruised pride, whining and pouting until she’d soothe him with lotus root soup and soft words. But now... now he smiled and leaned toward the Second Young Master of GusuLan. His laughter, once hers to comfort, now belonged elsewhere.
