Lan JingYi waved a hand in front of him, "There is not reaction? What if he lost his marbles?!"
Jin Ling, "I said already that Empathy is very dangerous!"
Lan JingYi, "Well it was because your head was up in the clouds and did not ring the bell in time."
Jin Ling's face froze, "I..."
Luckily, Wei WuXian had finally came to. He stood up against the coffin. A-Qing, having already left his body, leaned on the coffin as well. The boys swarmed around him as though they were a litter of piglets and all talk at the same time, "He's up, he's up!"
"Whew, he hasn't lost his marbles."
"Hasn't he lost his marbles to begin with?"
Everyone in the room stared at the juniors in utter disbelief. Here was a man hanging between life and death—and this was what the kids cared about?
Whether he had "lost his marbles" or not?
Ridiculous.
Lan JingYi squeezed his eyes shut, cursing his past self for every bratty remark he had ever made to Wei Wuxian. He didn't even need to look up to feel the icy, bone-deep chill of Lan Wangji's gaze cutting straight through him.
"Copy the rules. Ten times."
Lan Wangji's voice was calm...but carried the kind of lethal edge that made even adults flinch. His arm remained firmly around the unconscious Wei Wuxian, holding him as though any breath of wind could snatch him away.
JingYi gulped down the knot in his throat, and slowly lifted his head.
Hanguang-jun was staring right at him.
He bowed so quickly and deeply he almost hit his head on the floor.
"Y-yes, Hanguang-jun. I-I understand." In his panic, he even shoved the other Lan disciples sitting in front of him forward.
The disciples yelped softly, stumbling ahead with indignant whispers," Mannerless brat,"
"Utterly indisciplined,"
Wei Wuxian chuckled, the sound warm and soft as he reached out, fingers tracing Lan Wangji's sleeve.
"Lan Zhan, don't bully the kid on my behalf," he said, tilting his head with a playful smile.
His lashes fluttered, lips puresed in exaggerated innocence as he gazed up at Lan wangji.
Lan Wangji's breath hitched, those golden eyes-usually calm as moonlit water—fixed on Wei Wuxian's face with an intensity that made the air tremble.
His Adam's apple bobbed slowly, deliberately, and his fingers curled tighter around Wei Wuxian's waist, firm enough to warn, careful enough to cherish.
Wei Wuxian smirked, victorious and far too pleased with himself.
"Hehe, Lan Zhan... still so easy to lure," he whispered, leaning in, he groped Lan Wangji thigh, just enough to provoke him and his desire.
Lan Wangji's expression didn't change, but the faintest shift in his posture spoke volumes: a quiet mix of disapproval, helplessness, and long-practiced resignation to Wei Wuxian's antics. Eyes shouting in silence,"Don't make me drag you around and punish you again,"
"Wei Ying," he said softly, tone flat but carrying warning beneath it.
Wei Wuxian grinned wider.
Yes. This was the Lan Zhan he knew-steady, unshakeable, not the one whose eyes carried fear and pain moments ago.
