Jin Ling's words were harsh-too harsh. Yet, it wasn't entirely his fault to harbor resentment toward Wei Wuxian or the Wens. He had grown up hearing only one side of the story, and over the years, those words had taken root in his heart as an unquestionable truth.
"A-Ling..." Jiang Yanli's voice trembled, her eyes brimming with tears. She didn't know whom to comfort-her son, who had suffered so much, or her brother, who had been misunderstood for years.
Even Jiang Cheng, who was usually sharp-tongued and reckless as his nephew, felt that Jin Ling had gone too far this time-or Perhaps, for the first time, someone had shown Jiang cheng a mirror.
Sect Leader Yao let out a light chuckle.
"I don't think Jin Ling said anything wrong. If anything, Lan Sizhui is the one taking the wrong stance."
Another cultivator scoffed, "What do you expect from a son? Hanguang-jun is his father, after all-and everyone knows how he feels about Wei Wuxian."
"Even so," a Jin disciple retorted arrogantly, "he is still a Lan. Defending Wei Wuxian is hardly excusable at that time."
A quieter voice added, "You're forgetting—he was originally a Wen. He grew up under Wei Wuxian's care."
Murmurs rose again, tinged with disdain. A Lan disciple spoke to defend the Lan heir,"Whatever but Jin heir is really arrogant-"
"Enough!" Jin Zixuan suddenly shouted, cutting through the noise. His gaze fell on Jin Ling, whose head was lowered now-whether in embarrassment or guilt.
Hearing Jin Zixuan's sharp voice, Wei Wuxian snapped out of his daze. His gaze fell on Jin Ling-guilty, uncertain, and painfully gentle. He wanted to explain, to say something —anything —but a tight lump rose in his throat, stealing his words before they could leave his lips.
Lan Xichen cleared his throat to gain the attention of everyone," We... we have already witnessed many things and also cleared some misconceptions about Wens as well as young master Wei... Beside young master Jin is a child who lost his parents just a month after coming to the world.. so I think we shouldn't blame anyone but the situation which was developed by our negligence and greed." Lan Xichen glanced in last at Jin guangshan.
Jiang Cheng felt relieved by Lan Xichen's words and was about to thank him for the controlling situation but his mood got soured when he heard Jin guangyao sugar coated words,
"Er ge is completely right."
He smiled at Lan xichen brightly, " We shouldn't blame Lan heir or Jin heir. They are just children who are arguing on a topic, nothing serious."
Nie Mingjue's glare locked onto Jin Guangyao's smiling face, sharp enough to cut."All of this," he said coldly, "is thanks to you, Jin Guangyao. You are the main force who brought the situation like that..,"
The hall fell silent.
"You were the one who sent Jin Zixuan there. You were the one who endorsed Jin guangshan's schemes. You were the one who let Xue Yang roam free, slaughtering innocents at will." His voice grew louder with each sentence, fury barely contained. "And yet you stand here, pretending to be righteous-Don't think yourself so Great just because this book has shown a shred of yours righteous act. Do you really think a few so-called good deeds can erase your sins?"
