Chapter 27

Kim Sa Bu, Nam Do Il, Yeon Jun, Woo Jin, Byeol, Eun Jae, Nurse Oh and Nurse Eom were called for an emergency meeting. Byeol, who was going to check upon her brother, went to the meeting because it was announced urgent.

Director Park, seeing Byeol enter, said, "Well done Byeol, you took the right decision today."

Before Byeol could thank Dr. Yoon came in and said, "I'm surprised! How can a director encourage such behavior?"

Everyone turned to the door and saw the xx hospital staff entering.

Dr. Yoon came forward and said, "I would like to file a complaint against Byeol for not following procedures and protocols!"

Hearing this surprised the Dol Dam staff present there.

Byeol heard that and started laughing in disbelief and said, "Dr. Yoon, are you seriously going to raise a concern even though you know that I took the right decision?"

Dr. Yoon looked at her with sharp expressions and said, "Dr. Byeol, have you actually forgotten the way hospitals work? Even at your previous hospitals you had taken rash decisions but at least you used to wait for the reports! Coming here you have become wild!"

Byeol hearing this looked at Dr. Yoon with a hint of hate asked, "Is that why my achievements were given to Woo Bin who is the director's son from my previous hospital?"

Dr. Yoon flinched a little hearing her tone but before he could reply Eun Jae asked, "You called us here to tell us you filed a complaint against Byeol?"

Dr. Yoon, seeing their reaction, asked, "With all due respect, I understand the pressure of trauma cases, but this... this isn't how we practice medicine. Skipping imaging, bypassing protocols. It's reckless. One wrong move, and you're putting everyone at risk, including your patient."

Woo Jin scoffed and asked, "Do you even know how many patients die due to those so-called protocols and rules?"

Yeon Jun also losing his composure said, "Protocols are made for the convenience of patients not to kill them, these rules would be null if the patient isn't breathing."

Eun Jae added, "And before filing the complaint did you see the successful operation led by Byeol? As her senior I agree with the decision she took, I would have done the same."

Kim Sa Bu, knowing where this is heading and why, said, "Dr. Yoon here at Doldam we prioritize patients before some stupid forms, if you guys have any sort of problem you can leave, no one is forcing you to stay here."

Hearing that no one could say a word further, Nurse Eom frustrated by their behaviour, said, "You guys seriously called an urgent meeting when we could have used this time to rest? Poor Byeol shi couldn't even meet her brother!"

Byeol who was actually holding back her thought about it finally let out a sad chuckle and replied, "Leave it Nurse Eom, they came here to destroy me again, of course they wouldn't care about such things."

Saying this, Byeol asked Kim Sa Bu, "Can I still visit my brother?"

Kim Sa Bu replied, "I was about to go check on him, can you do that for me? I'm a little tired from operating on all these patients."

Byeol smiled and quickly ran to visit her brother.

Entering the room Byeol seeing her brother in that condition took a deep breath.

She slowly walked beside him and holding his hand which wasn't hurt much said, "Stupid! Be glad Kim Sa Bu operated on you! Now you better get up soon so I can beat you up for everything! I still haven't forgiven you, okay!"

Yeon Jun looked at Byeol holding her tears as she talked to him and decided to give her some space.

Byeol looked at her brother for a few more seconds and thanked the god, checked up his vitals and everything else and left the room to report to Kim Sa Bu.

Byeol knocking on Kim Sa Bu's door went inside and said, "Everything about the patient Kang Hyun Sik is normal teacher, he might regain his consciousness at the given time."

Saying that she took a pause to swallow the lump in her throat and said, "Thank you for saving my brother Kim Sa Bu!" Saying that she bowed and the tears she was holding back finally betrayed her.

Kim Sa Bu let out a sigh seeing Byeol cry and said, "Go rest for the night, you must be stressed, the nurses will keep an eye on your brother so rest for the night and come all fresh tomorrow morning. Now go!"

Byeol straightened herself and nodded and said, "Don't worry teacher! I will rest well and come all fresh tomorrow."

Saying that she wished him a good night and went to her department office and changed her clothes.

She came out and saw Yeon Jun waiting, she gave him a tired but thankful smile and walked together with him to the car.

They sat in and Yeon Jun started driving, as he drove them back Byeol said, "Thank you Yeon Jun senior for saving my brother! I-"

Yeon Jun suddenly stopped the car at a safe spot and turned to Byeol.

Byeol looked at him confused and Yeon Jun replied, "I know how much you want to let out your feelings, I couldn't listen to it half heartedly."

Hearing this Byeol who was already emotional started sobbing and said, "Senior I was very scared, seeing my brother there I, I couldn't think anything, if something had happened to him- I- I couldn't have ever forgiven myself, all I could think was to tell him I had already forgiven him! All the times I was angry at him didn't matter I- all I could pray for was him being okay."

Yeon Jun lets out a small sigh, seeing Byeol like this and opening his seatbelt went forward to hug her and said, "Hey! It's okay, your brother is going to be fine and walking in no time."

Byeol nodded her head and cried a little more. She felt very guilty to even have been fighting with her brother, all she wanted to do was hear his voice and even hug him just once, she felt a little immature to even fight about the past.

Byeol after a few minutes stopped crying and breaking the hug said, "Thank you for listening senior! I'm all okay now."

Yeon Jun smiled and said, "Good! And you better not be blaming yourself for fighting with him, that's a normal sibling thing, he will be okay."

Byeol's eyes wides as she realizes that he even understands her inner emotions and how she doesn't even have to say anything. She smiles with a slight blush.

They reached home and Yeon Jun and Byeol got out and saw Woo Bin standing there, most probably waiting for them, especially Byeol.

Byeol, not wanting to deal with more drama, decided to ignore him for today and was about to walk past when what Woo Bin says stops her.

"I'm really sorry, I never knew Dr. Yoon would be doing that, or else I would have stopped him!" He says with desperation in his voice.

Byeol let out a tired sigh and turned to look him in the eyes and asked, "Then why didn't you stop him when he was speaking? Why are you still here at Doldam if you don't want to hurt me? Do you think we at Doldom don't understand that you have come here for a reason beyond wanting to learn something?"

Woo Bin not having an answer kept quiet, Byeol continued, "See! You don't even have an answer! Whatever you came for is not going to happen Woo Bin! From what I realize, you have the potential to become a really good doctor, but you have been in your father's shadow so much that you are scared of stepping out of it and facing the truth! Come out of that comfort zone of yours if you really want to become a doctor."

Yeon Jun smiled hearing the words Byeol said, he was impressed. He looked at Woo Bin's face and realized that he knew what Byeol said was right.

Byeol, knowing she has said enough said, "Good night Woo Bin, I'm too tired to talk for today." Saying that she looked at Yeon Jun waiting to walk in together.

Yeon Jun, noticing her gaze, gave her a smile and started walking with her.

Woo Bin looked at them and realized one more thing. 'He lost Byeol even before he started because she already had her heart on Yeon Jun.'
