Chapter 12
Alex’s POV
I breathed a sigh of relief as I carefully placed the last cat food tin on the top of the pyramid, smiling to myself as I turned around and almost smacked straight into Sydney.
“Bonjour.” She said cheerily, looking from me to the newly stacked pyramid of cat food.
“Bonjour?” I asked, confused at her random outburst of French.
“J'aime la pizza.” She said seriously, nodding as she spoke.
“I don’t understand what you’re saying, love.” I said, tapping my foot against the ground impatiently, raising an eyebrow at her.
“Mua ha haaaa…” she winked, turning on her heel and skipping away towards the chocolate. I swear that girl was crazy. “Okay, I’ve got the chocolateeee.” She sang, coming up to me, her arms bulging with assorted bars of chocolate.
“Really, Syd? How many do you need?!” I stared at the chocolate, there must’ve been more than 10 bars there, along with a block of caramello and a block of roast almond.
“I only got what we needed, honest.” She said, staring up at me with wide, innocent eyes. “Pleeeeeaseee, Alex.” She pleaded, putting on an irresistable puppy dog face.
“Ughh, fine. But if you get sick you can’t blame me.” I reminded her, watching as she squealed with delight and skipped off to find Keegan with the trolley. Honestly, this girl was like a female Keegan…
ARI/SYD’S POV
“I got the chooooooocolateee!” I screamed, sliding down the aisle towards Keegan in my socks, because y’know, who needs shoes anyway?
“Oh my god, I can’t believe I forgot to get chocolate!” he gasped, holding a hand to his heart in mock despair. “Thank god we have you, Syd.”
“Oh I know, what would you do without me?” I said, flipping my hair over my shoulder with a wink. “Sooooo… did you get the goods…?” I whispered, placing the chocolate on the checkout conveyer belt.
“Everything, this is going to be so great.” Keegan laughed while stacking the food on the checkout.
“Uh Keegs…” I said slowly, staring at the line of food on the conveyer belt.
“Yeah?” he said, absentmindedly loading food onto the belt.
“Where are the chips…”
“What?”
“The chips…where are they….”
“Oh, I must’ve forgotten to get them…” Keegan replied.
“No!” I shouted, spinning around and running off in search of my delicious chips. “There you are my lovelies.” I said, grabbing a bag and running back to Keegan. “Got ‘em.” I said, “You can't have a movie night without chips…” I continued, shooting Keegan a look.
“I’m sorry, babe” He apologised, enveloping me in a hug. “I didn’t mean to, please forgive me?” he whined, pouting and staring at me with sad eyes.
Babe…? Again?
“Hey! You can’t use the puppy dog trick on me mister! That’s not fair!” I said, hitting him on the arm. “But I forgive you.” I smiled, grabbing the trolley and wheeling it out into the parking lot where Alex was waiting by the car.
“Took you two long enough.” he laughed, picking bags out of the trolley and putting them in the back of his black SUV.
“Yeah well Sydney here decided she needed chips.” Keegan said accusingly, tilting his head in my direction.
